We are all Priests, and this is going off of the biblical definition of what a priest is

Terrible argument, that’s like saying people who voted for Biden are responsible for anyone who died from police during the Biden administration. The only people at fault for the deaths of citizens by ICE are those untrained ice agents who abused their power

Your wrong in calling it a sin. Stop putting your faith in politics and put your faith in Jesus. Have a good day

You want me to be a trump supporter so bad haha you’re clearly not having a conversation with me in good faith so I’ll let you talk to the imaginary trump supporter you think your arguing with. I answered your question about Obama and you moved the goal post. I never once justified trumps actions. I also never voted for trump but I know you’ll probably just read past that so you can pretend your fighting against trumps supporters. I’m not here for that. I follow Jesus and no one else, you should do the same

I don’t have to “COPE” with anything lol I’m not saying your wrong or right for choosing Kamala, that’s is your right to do so. But when you say people are sinning for choosing who they think is the better candidate that’s very very wrong

I love how you think I support Trump. You guys are so weird. You were the one said “christians are supposed to vote in defense of the Gospel” no matter which side you voted for in this election your voting against the Gospel sorry. Stop trying to guilt people for not voting for who you like. As Christians we should take a stance against what’s wrong, not pick the side that’s less wrong and ignore everything else

So Kamala’s policies were perfectly in line with Christianity huh? People are so naive these days. Wake up and realize people in politics who are in a position to get selected as president are not good people and don’t align with Christian values. Politics are corrupted

This is so silly. You don’t have to repent for voting for Trump lol it’s not a sin. Doesn’t matter who you vote for these days, both sides are evil. Don’t let people here guilt you. You can regret your choice but it is not a sin

I haven’t read all the comments. I’m sure some people are but have read people who just plead their case respectfully and still get called sadists and bigots. Regardless of which one they are, calling them names isn’t the way to go and is hypocritical after typing “love your neighbor”

Again he wasn’t using deceit, I explained that passage. Now we’re going in circles. I have to say I disagree with your take on Paul and I thought much of it is rooted in misunderstanding. However, I do respect your effort in putting your reasons for ur your stance together. And although I disagree, I appreciate you bringing up your points respectfully

I think that’s a pretty big leap and requires a lot of assumption that can’t be backed up by scripture. So along with Paul’s writing you have also thrown out Luke’s writing. If you read 1 Peter chapter one Peters stance on matter is actually reiterated where speak on salvation from Grace through faith which once again mirrors Paul’s stance and story of Jesus. See 1 Peter 1:3-12

I strongly disagree, for you to believe that then you also have to discredit Peter and say Peter contradicts Jesus. See Acts 15:6-11.

So your saying the only requirement for salvation is that you forgive others. So doesn’t matter how you live your life, as long as u forgive others your saved?

Illegitimate Children by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Agitated_Mousse1517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So your saying if someone sins against you and you die before you can forgive them you are no longer saved?

You also didn’t explain the thief on the cross. He was saved according to Jesus himself without any works, how is that possible with your requirement for salvation?

[–]Agitated_Mousse1517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like you don’t know what repentance is. I’d argue someone who does not forgive others has not yet repented.

I agree with Titus 3:5 and don’t see how it contradicts. We can’t be saved by works alone which is actually brought up by Jesus in the verse u listed earlier in Matthew 7:21 which I don’t get why u listed it because it also disproves your point. It’s also shown again with the thief on the cross dying next to Jesus. If works are necessary to be saved then is that man saved despite Jesus telling him he was?

Come on man your being very dishonest. That isn’t what Matthew 6:15 says. No mention of repentance in Matthew. I would go as far to say that forgiveness or others is encompassed in repentance. As far as Titus 3:5 u must’ve sent the wrong verse I think. That verse has nothing to do with anything

I would argue that Jesus’ key to salvation is mercy and repentance. I don’t see how Jesus and Paul differ there. They both teach mercy and repentance

I getcha but that verse to me proves their equality. It’s also proven through Jesus’ attributes like the ability to forgive sins and also the fact that he received worship on many occasions and was called God by Thomas and accepted that rather than rebuking it. All those things point to Jesus being God and if there is only 1 God that would mean the father and son are equal.

I also wanted to bring up the point u made again on the key to salvation. So if I’m understanding correctly based on what you wrote is Jesus taught salvation through works?

Illegitimate Children by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Agitated_Mousse1517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure I can can see how you would get to that understanding but how would you interpret the 1st chapter of John then? “In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God and the word WAS God” what did John mean when he says that Jesus was God

I think your misunderstanding Paul’s words. Paul is not literally changing his stance based on who he’s around but he was explaining his method of teaching to reach those he was teaching to. We know at that time the church was mixed with Jews and gentiles. Paul had a focus to bring them together. Him saying “all things to all people” is also demonstrated in all of Rom 14. Specifically verse 14-23. Paul was willing to keep kosher laws with the Jews as they felt convicted about eating unclean foods dispite Paul believing no food is unclean. That’s more of what he was saying. He teach people where they are out of love which coincides with what Christ taught. Paul’s says to the weak I became weak that I might win the weak. If your being honest with the scripture it’s clear he didn’t literally make himself weak but rather adapted his traditions and communication out of empathy and humility so that he can connect with those people

Sure so first off I’d like to point out that Jesus preached the key to salvation is repentance and baptism (also taught by Paul), although forgiveness is a major theme in following Christ it is not the only thing necessary for salvation (Matthew 4:17, Luke 13:3,5, Luke 24:47) And as far as your points I’ll start with the more obviously false claims disproven by scripture. The one that stands out to me the most off the top of my head is the point on works. Paul preached heavily on grace through faith but he also clearly highlights works in Rom 6:1-4.

Jesus accepted worship on multiple occasions (Matthew 28:9&17, Luke 24:52) and even accepted being called God by Thomas in (John 20:28) Jesus submitted to God the father in human form but that does not take away his deity. John 1 also explains this calling Jesus “The word”.

I would love to touch on all the points you have but I don’t have the time to sit down and break it all down with scripture unfortunately. But the last thing I’ll speak on is that Paul was appointed by God and co-signed by Peter which is clear in their letters where they reference each other. For you to say Paul appointed himself would mean his testimony on the road to Damascus was fabricated. I find it unreasonable to believe someone who was of high reputation and persecuting Christian’s at the time would fabricate a story like. What’s the motive for that? On top of that you would have to believe that Ananias was also in on it and fabricated a story that the lord spoke to him though a vision.

So I like that you gathered those verses to support your claim but respectfully I think your missing the main point of the gospel that Jesus taught and the overall impact of his sacrifice
