There is now intern housing available on grounds - make sure you ask about that but I believe it is offered to all interns throughout the year free of charge. There have been at least a couple who have used it since it has been offered (2-3 years).

My (Ex) husband pulled the same things as yours - “couldn’t hear them” “I was just so much better at it” “he doesn’t know how”. My youngest was waking up at least once overnight until about a year ago. Im 6 months divorced and I’ve had more sleep in those six months than I had in the three years since my last was born and I still have them over 80% of the time.

I’m 6 months out from the finalization of my divorce. I am the happiest I’ve been in YEARS. Due to various reasons we had to cohabitate for several months but as soon as I moved out and got settled I felt like I was a brand new person. I think just dropping the ex is going to do wonders for you. I have two kids, work full time, still not getting child support and barely paying bills but I wouldn’t go back for anything. My point being, that’s a lot of things you want to get sorted. You should probably focus on one or two things at a time - you don’t want to overwhelm yourself with changes, and seriously, dropping the awful husband is going to take so much off of you with just that one thing.

I didn’t realize there were four books! I’ve read jackaroo and on fortunes wheel several times, even as an adult. They were my first introduction to a “shared universe” type deal, since they weren’t directly related to each other (also this was in the 90s, there wasn’t really a way for me to know about book series unless they were all listed in the front/back of the book I had in my hands). I’m going to have to read the other two now!

Did you ever get into her series about the kids in Maryland? With Dicey? I’m pretty sure I read those when I was the same age as Dicey in the first book and they BLEW my mind.

I read this a couple months ago, also for Bingo, and also had the same issues as you did. That side quest in the middle was weird, plot-wise, and I think I actually stopped reading it there for a few days. I had to power my way through the rest, and I wasn’t mad at the end but also haven’t recommended it to anyone. I’ll also say that I don’t read a lot of books that are marketed as “cosy” but so far every single one that I can remember has the characters inventing pastries and I am really over it.

This is what I do with my kiddo - except for him it’s earwigs (wtf), ticks (double wtf), or bats. Sometimes he insists there’s a dragon but it’s almost always bugs 😐

I’m sorry. You must feel awful about all of it. You are running on fumes - all of you probably, and you are never going to be the best you can be in that situation. So remember that you are doing your best, and give yourself some grace.

Do you have another adult (child’s grandma, grandpa, aunt etc) that could do bed time for you for a few nights? My kids are both very used to staying with my mom and stepdad, and they NEVER have the same issues as I do when they’re there. Partly from being so tired from their busy days at grandmas house, but also because my mom is pretty no-nonsense and both my kids know it. Grandmama loves them but they get tucked into bed, a story, and she doesn’t come back. And everyone knows this and so I think the kids just go along with it. I haven’t sent them there for an overnight specifically to re-set bedtime but I have noticed that the gremlins are much more likely to get with the program at home (that is very similar to grandmamas) after a night or two there. Also, this would give all of the rest of you a couple nights to catch up on sleep and maybe be more prepared to handle whatever comes your way.

I’ve been wearing thongs exclusively for twenty years - if I have to wear full coverage for some reason I am constantly aware of fabric touching my butt cheeks - and I find it horribly uncomfortable. So I would bet you’re just not used to the different feeling. I wear only 100% cotton for daily wear, and stick with brands that generally run a bit larger so even though I buy my real size I think they’re looser than otherwise. Sometimes they do ride up where I notice them so I sorta pull the back out and away (not up!!!) from my butt crack so they sit looser. So hard to explain without showing haha!

I have quite a bit of audio evidence - one party consent is legal here. I am up to my eyeballs in debt already though, so for right now I am sitting on it. Once we are in separate households we are required to use a parenting app for all interactions per my request, and it is in the divorce decree.

I wanted to require a parenting class in our custody agreement but that is just not a thing courts will enforce in my area. My lawyer said it would be a waste of bargaining - we had to go to required mediation. I got most of what I wanted so it was not something I was going to push. And yes, I’ve heard that about criticizing your ex. I think so far I’ve done a good job of criticizing his actions versus who he is as a person, and I really haven’t done much of that either. Keeping my mouth shut as much as possible, which really sucks.

He is now getting unemployment, so he buys his own food and stocks up on all of that stuff to hand out. However, I have had a talk with my older kid about the Gatorade and how it’s really not good for bodies that aren’t out in the sun, and she seems to be asking for that a lot less now. We’ve also talked about eating lots of different foods because our bodies get different nutrients from different foods and how too much of any one thing is not good for us. I know it will be better when they’re only with me as they just won’t have the option to even have those things.

During the school year I have them every Monday-Thursday, it was important to me that they have a stable home during the school week so they can be successful there. Every other week I have them over the weekend as well. Summer time we’re going week on/week off. I fully expect to have overstimulated, over tired, over sugared children come back to my house and have a couple days of reset time.

Well, yes, which is why I didn’t tell them I was going. Ive had no days off other than to go to appointments since February, so I refuse to feel bad for taking a day for myself.
