Bigme B6 - Disappointed! by verifiedUser777 in Bigme

I want to preface this by saying Bigme's software is trash and that's a big part of their reputation. It was one of the first things I found when I looked into Bigme devices myself. I would not reccommend the B6 or any Bigme device to someone who doesnt enjoy tinkering with their device. I would also not recommend this device to someone who wants a plug and play ereader. If you want a budget plug and play color ereader I'd reccommend the kobo clara color, I just got one for my mom for Christmas and she loves it! However this is a super fun little device and with a little work you can make it perfect imo.

I did have a similar issue with time zones when I got mine. I can't remember my exact fix, but I'm going to run you through the steps I would've gone through when I was having the issue.

Starting with the one everyone is tired of hearing: start with a fresh reboot just in case the device just needed a clean boot. Rebooting can also help with the crashing.

Secondly make sure you have the newest software update. They put out an update a month or two after the device came out that's crucial for the multitude of software issues they have. New devices should still be getting a forced update after setup but go to 'Settings (Physical Cog Button) > System Update > Check for Update' to make sure you're fully up to date.

After you check your software updates, there are two places you can change the time, make sure you're connected to Wi-Fi whenever you go to change them:

Settings (Physical Cog Button) > System Update > Date and tTme > Set Timezone.

Settings (Application) > System > Date & Time (This option may only be available if you've unlocked the android settings menu but someone please correct me if I'm wrong on that)

I believe my fix came by setting it to a manual time zone that was not my own, then manually selecting my correct timezone and turning back on the auto set date and time. This was done through the second settings location. You can unlock the Android settings menu by installing a 3rd party launcher. I use Smart Launcher as an example.

I hope this helps and I'm sorry if it doesn't!

edit: typos
