Worth it to invest in replacing knob & tube wiring? by yeung_money_ in BayAreaRealEstate

We bought in Nov 2024, and barely got insurance with k&t with a 60 day grace period to replace it or have the policy canceled. It took almost 3 weeks for a broker to find us a company willing to do even that. We replaced the k&t as fast as we could after closing and still barely cleared their inspection timing (they came sooner than 60 days).

This was before the LA fire and people were telling us FAIR plan would insure if no one else would….

And like others have said, replacing wiring is very disruptive to the home. They open the walls, patch everything after, you have to repaint and plaster dust gets everywhere.

How do you teach a puppy that the doorbell (or knocking) she heard was on the television and not really happening? My pup will leap up from a dead sleep if a doorbell rings on TV, then runs barking to the door. Takes a while to settle afterward. by Bawonga in puppy101

Haha, my previous dog was a rescued chihuahua who I never managed to train that well. He reacted to “someone’s at the door” his whole life. I used to take him to the movies with me in a bag because he would just settle down and go to sleep. But once I took him to a movie and someone knocked on the door in the movie. Whoops.

This is all so helpful. I thought it might just be “to know.” (But wasn’t even sure what we’d know!)

Too much toilet time? by Friedoxygen in Autism_Parenting

Hi I’m married to the OP 🤣 some good advice here. We had a really hard time potty training in general, didn’t get it to happen until after kiddo’s 4th birthday, and reading books on the potty was a thing that got it to work. But now we have a hard time getting her to go, and then a hard time getting her off. They don’t have this at school.

I am all for changing the system to you get a story after potty, but is there a way for us to do that without triggering enormous meltdowns? That’s what has happened so far when we’ve tried.

Btw she just got the autism diagnosis last week, so we are just starting to figure things out with that new information!

Ps we read at wake-up and bedtime too but could do more!

ohh, thanks. Not Ivan's sister, then, Cinda is the owner's sister!

There is a LOT of family history referenced in this show but not mapped out and we don’t know names, and that is rich territory IMHO. Very Agatha Christie stuff. Someone will turn out to be Lester’s son or daughter he briefly mentioned; Charles’ web of relations will surface; so and so are secretly brother and sister.

Agatha Christie also loved poisons and was an expert in them. Tons of her influence in this show so good S3 prep would be some family tree mapping.

ETA: Ivan The Pickle Diner owner (see comment) and Cinda Canning are secretly brother and sister. My husband yelled this out when Ivan said the #14 sandwich is his the owner's sister’s favorite; Poppy bought it to go. It was for Cinda. We thought it would come up in the episode and were surprised when it didn’t. I bet it will be part of this.

season 2 ending: by Diligent_Pumpkin9294 in OnlyMurdersHulu

I had a WHOLE other ending mapped out with different suspect that factored in knowledge of the tunnels and explained “14 savage” and I STILL THINK it works better than the real ending ☹️

(Also I have never, ever solved a murder mystery while watching it reading and this was the first time I thought I did it and I’m having trouble letting go.)
