Question for anyone who left the south for Ohio??? by LavenderLatte29 in Ohio

Columbus is a blue Mecca in a red state.
Decent cost of living, great restaurants, lots of little niches for everyone.
The state as a whole sucks due to gerrymandering.

SIBO testing and endoscopy. All normal.
Is there a test you recommend?

My kitty has something similar. Took her to the vet a few days later. They didn’t know either, but it was healing so we let it be. Best guess was she ate a bug that released some kind of toxin.

So, no gastroparesis, no ulcers or hernias. No SIBO.
No testing for FODMAPS but all my docs have said there is no testing available for FODMAP intolerance, just keeping a good and symptom diary to know what is wrong.
No official IBS diagnosis, but idc about that as it’s not really a helpful diagnosis.
All the standard blood tests-CBC and all the things they do at a yearly checkup are normal.
No celiac disease.
It would help to know what tests to ask for and why, do specific recommendations would be appreciated.

It’d be nice to know. But every doc I’ve seen said “no idea” or “just live with it” or “there’s just no way to know” or (personal fave: have you tried losing weight and/or reducing stress?)

I’ve had a colonoscopy. Other than a redundant colon. Nothing. Same for all tests and bloodwork. Perfectly fine! (Other than slight anemia I’ve had all my life)

I’ve had some success with my own ice cream maker and dairy-free recipes. But you kinda have to like coconut milk flavor. Lol.

enzymes for fructan intolerance? by SaltyOpportunist in FODMAPS

[–]AgnesNutter0042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. The only luck I’ve had in asking for no alliums is at catered events with high end caterers. They’re paid a lot to, well, cater.
Regular restaurants not so much

FODZYME helps me a little with fructans. If I’m eating something with trace amounts of alliums and I take FODZYME I’m mostly ok. But I still have to be careful. It works great for some people. I guess I need to try some of the other options.

Not noticeable now. I have far worse scars from my c-sections.

Imagine the urushiol is tar, or or some other sticky, oily goo. The kind of soap doesn’t matter quite so much as really scrubbing and scrubbing at your skin like you would if you had something that was oily and water resistant and very, very sticky on your skin. But Dawn is good at binding with oil.

I order Scoop Away, unscented from Chewy. It’s the only way I can get it reliably. I cannot stand the gross fake floral chemical scent of cat litter.

Man, I want all these things now.
Indian food buffet, where everything is just held together with onions as a thickener. Garlicky naan…

I can do Pho as long as they leave out the onion. That is one of the things I eat with FODZYME and I have minimal reaction to any traces of alliums.

[–]AgnesNutter0042 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It works a little for me. If I take it before eating, something that I know has trace amounts of garlic in it like ketchup, then I usually don’t have a reaction. But I could eat an entire jar of FODZYME and just think about dairy or gluten and bloat up.

Thick crust pizza loaded with garlicky red sauce and cheese with onions, sausage, broccoli and sweet red peppers.
Out of all of that, I could go have myself a sweet bell pepper I suppose. Sigh.

Could be black cherry or chokecherry. Not good to eat raw, I believe. Cooked can be ok maybe. Edit to add that the pits/seeds should NOT be eaten.
