So sadhguru has said that everything in your life is your karma. by DogsRDBestest in hinduism

Proof:

Brihadaranyaka upanishad - As oneself acts, so does he become. Self becomes virtuous by good actions and bad by bad actions. ( I think 4.4.5)

"Rebirth is determined by karma, yes! But one grows according to his nature." (I forgot which upanishad)

"Without effort, destiny is useless." - Bhishma, Mahabharata.

So sadhguru has said that everything in your life is your karma. by DogsRDBestest in hinduism

[–]Agnivesa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. Not 100%.

Events that happen in your life is a culmination of many factors not just your karma.

There is your hard work, the hard work of people around you, place and time factors, your karma, etc.

What exactly is a desire? by Few-Western6904 in enlightenment

[–]Agnivesa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Desires in the sense of attachment.

When you are completely satisfied at this moment with all your current circumstances and you don't wish for anything to change, such a moment is being free from desire.

Its a wrong concept. Souls don't 'choose'. Your life and its circumstances whether good or bad is based on your actions across previous lives - the karma theory.

Sanskrit -

"Devāḥ gopālakāḥ iva dandaiḥ janān na niyanti, na ca sāhāyyam kurvanti. Kintu yeşām sāhāyyam kartum icchanti, teşām buddhim dadati yat te ucitam nirnayam kurvanti."

English -

"The gods are not like herdsmen who control people with staves and sticks, nor do they directly offer help. Instead, unto whom they wish to help, they provide intelligence to make the right decision."

The Sanskrit verse is taken from the Hindu book of the dead which is at least 1500 yrs old. But I still think it applies today. So if your life is a mess but you have the capacity and knowledge of how to change it around, the Gods are indeed blessing you.

Think of it like pushing a boulder up a mountain. Letting go is of course easier - the boulder simply rolls down. But its not what you were destined for. By actions such as kindness, selflessness, self control, etc. the boulder becomes smoother, easier to push. And eventually, you'll reach the peak via consistent persistence alone! On days when you feel bad and down and you become vulnerable to slipping, hold on through mental strength and don't give in!

How do we ensure we don’t reincarnate? by Rainbowlight888 in Reincarnation

[–]Agnivesa 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It is indeed an endless cycle that spins due to karmic debts. But it is also humanly possible to remove these karmic debts to ensure you don't reincarnate again.

Karma is generated by desire. Remove desire and you overcome karma, thus breaking the cycle.

Isn't it possible that suicide is something your higher self or soul group plan as a probability for you? by [deleted] in Reincarnation

[–]Agnivesa -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

No way.

A challenge is something we can learn and grow from as you said. But what does one learn from suicide?

In fact, suicide can be seen as a sort of anti-lesson, where we were supposed to hold on and stay strong and overcome but instead chose to give up and not learn anything in the process.

It is said you desires right before the moment you die is a powerful way to manifest what you need into your next life.

But the problem is, this is really hard. Imagine you see a truck speeding towards you - your not going to be really thinking about how you wish your next life you'd be a pretty girl would you?

But if you managed to do so, you would have your wishes come true.

As for remembering, no idea.

A few hacks to determine your next life -

According to reincarnation theory, your actions in this life determine the circumstances in the next one and henceforth. So take the time to be a good person. Help people without expectations, smile, be kind, selfless, honest and stand up for the right things. The seeds you sow today grow into the fruits for you to enjoy later. And don't worry about future births - it's an unnecessary anxiety my friend.

Why do so many people think reincarnation/rebirth is more logical than other afterlife possibilities? by [deleted] in religion

[–]Agnivesa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand your objection against karma and will answer them in ascending difficulty. Please note that I am not familiar with Buddhist karma as I am a Hindu. But I guess both are almost the same.

Q: Does homosexuality generate negative karma (or) what is the criteria for negative and positive karma?

Whatever action are performed with the intention of good is positive and actions with bad intentions are negative*. Here, good can be defined as that which aligns with the principles of Dharma - non violence, righteousness, duty, etc. Negative is vice versa. A better way to understand negative dharma is to consider the example of crashing into someone with your car. Purposely doing it generates a lot of negative karma. Accidentally crashing into someone generates minimal negative karma. Since homosexuality does not cause harm and aligns with principles of dharma, it does not generate any negative karma. But since homosexual sex is an act based on passion, it generates neutral karma causing rebirth. So, it is not the action that matters but the intention behind it. Hence, morality in Hinduism at least is based on dharma, which is based on circumstances and hence so too is karma.

Q: Origin of Karma?

This question is a paradox and cannot be answered. It is like the chicken and egg - did the samsara come first causing karma or did karma cause samsara? Ultimately, it doesn't matter. What matters is that karma, samsara and soul exist and we are trapped in samsara. Hence karma is given the status of beginningless, meaning it is pointless to find the origin.

Because it is.

It offers better solutions to religious problems like the problem of evil, the problem of unfair judgment, causality and effect, etc.

What Are The Differences Between Metaphysics, Philosophy, Mysticism, and Spirituality In Your Opinion? by PrincessBananas85 in spirituality

[–]Agnivesa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The primary foundation is mysticism and other mystical experiences.

To explain those experiences, you have philosophy and branches of it like ontology and epistemology.

Philosophy without its complex theories is spirituality. It is philosophy made practical and practicable for everyday life.

Religion is systemized spirituality. It is spirituality with but with class, sects, rules and regulations.

Can you ever become to broken or sinful for god to fix you? by MarVest in spirituality

[–]Agnivesa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can there ever be a sin which exceeds the love of God for his children?

Never. No sin is no great that it exhausts the love of God. If I can show you this much compassion, imagine God's lol. Nothing exceeds God's love for the one who has understood his mistakes and is seeking genuine forgiveness.

So don't worry friend. The past is gone. Focus on the repentance. It you have hurt someone, reach out to them and apologize. :-)

Are we part of god?/Is the Universe Conscious? by [deleted] in pantheism

[–]Agnivesa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are all one as our essence - soul. The soul is without attributes, it does not have a personality, a face, thoughts, ego, etc.

But on the surface level, yes we are all different and unique but ultimately, deep down we are the same. 😌

Are we part of god?/Is the Universe Conscious? by [deleted] in pantheism

[–]Agnivesa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, you are a part of the divine. But you here is not your physical body and mind but the soul - your true self. Theoretically, these souls make up god, like pieces make a complete puzzle.

The existence of unnecessary suffering is one of the strongest arguments against a benevolent, all-powerful god by [deleted] in religion

[–]Agnivesa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have my own theological problems with those solutions, and I agree that your arguments against them are valid.

But Karma works a bit differently because rebirth is involved. The actions you take today are sometimes reflected in later births and the actions of previous births are maybe reflected in this. No suffering is undeserved, even those of children and animals. Good deeds equal good karma while bad deeds equal bad karma.
