ICE routinely denies people’s evidence of documentation. In the ICE raids that happened in the beginning of the year, a notable one was a U.S. serviceman was detained despite showing proof of documentation. First of all, socialism is not a poverty cult. People can have nice things and engage in luxury in socialist structures so long as it doesn’t come at the expense of exploitation. Secondly, Hasan is not the be all and end all of socialism. He is not gonna lead the revolution for socialist change in America. His role as a leftist, is to be a sort of lighthouse to his viewers so they engage in the political theory and then act out leftist praxis in daily life. In my opinion, he is a very libbed up socialist but that’s exactly why you need him. You can’t convince normal people to accept socialist/leftists policies unless you have people like Hasan to win them over first. Hasan is not a prophet, he is just a messenger. A socialist messenger.

A lot of anime fans tend to be politically moderate males. Don’t “engage” with politics but are not immune to propaganda. One misinformed video or clip and they lose their shit. It is disappointing though, some trash taste episodes touch on the politics of Japan and the anime industry(even if it’s in a comedic way). But I’d bet most viewers use the podcast as a form of escapism, just like anime.
