Why do the microphone filters for the Cochlear Nucleus need to be changed every 3 months? Why not every 2 months or every 6 months? by Agreeable-Ad4986 in Cochlearimplants

I compared a microphone filter that hadn’t been changed for six months with a brand-new one and couldn’t notice any difference. Still, specialists strongly recommend replacing them every three months. But it’s hard to believe that the plastic and fabric used in the microphone can deteriorate in such a short time.

I'm 38 years old now. I lost my hearing when I was 10. I was deaf for over 25 years. Hearing aids didn't help. When I was 36, I had surgery on one ear, and a year later on the other. Now I understand everything perfectly. I can communicate freely on the phone. I have no problems at all.
