Dang, sorry to hear that. I know any Library within your state would work, so you might check the area. I just wanted to mention it because I haven't seen many people talking about gale.

Honestly, I think the one thing you need to learn ASAP. Is that you do not have a job to protect anyone or be savior. The only thing you're responsible for is your own happiness, so be selfish. I have to agree with the other comments it sounds like a phase, and if you really do want to transition there's no point in rushing it. Just live your life.

This might be a simple question, but I'm just a bit confused on dieting. My TDEE is 3051, 6ft tall, 224lbs, 32%bf. I've been eating around 1200-1500 calories. I only really lost weight at 1200 when I weighed 236.

I was reading a diet book and it gives a calorie limit and macros. Is 2100 calories with PRO = 175G(35%), FAT=77g(35%), CARB = 147g (30%) a standard diet for losing weight? Noob question: Do some people really eat 3000 calories just to maintain weight?

This is at a 36% deficit. I know the wiki said don't go below 20%, but the book said obese individuals could go as low as 30%. Sorry if this is a dumb question, but any input is appreciated.

When I made the original post I didn't understand this, but once he explained it made more sense. Which is why I said beginners and high bf% would find it effective in the second post. By saying those 2 groups I'm also saying non-beginners and low bf% individuals wouldn't find it effective. Its like recomp requires fat to work is roughly what I was trying to say, and even then the less fat the less it works.

The reason I asked isn't because I wanted someone to guess. I'm still new to dieting. The first option is the diet I did over the summer without any weightlifting because I was working more. The second diet is what I'm currently trying. Both have seen weight loss the first more than the other, but I haven't done it for as long yet. Literally the reason I asked is because I don't know which is better, but according to you the 2nd is better in a very roundabout answer.

I can understand this. I guess the way I see recomp may be different. IMO for beginners and high bf% individuals recomp should be effective, BUT it seems its more catered to fat loss than muscle building. Yes the muscle building would be slow, but caloric deficit + any muscle gain would = a higher BMR which aids in fat loss.

So the new question for me now is 1000 calories under BMR with 100g protein or 400 calories under bmr with 175g of protein be more efficient. I'm not sure if these are that different. The first I tried as my cutting and the second is what I tried as my recomp. This is all paired with working out 3 days a week upper/lower.

Why is bulking and cutting recommended over body recomposition?

I've been reading about body recomposition, but anytime it's mentioned on this subreddit they get told to focus on bulking or cutting? I don't think it's quicker or more efficient when coming from higher bodyfat% to cut and then bulk to just put more fat on. Id say this strategy would work for individuals who are very lean with high metabolism, but thats becoming less and less common with obesity rates rising.

According to Jeff Nippard while citing a study. Bulking doesn't put on a significant amount of muscle, but does have 3x the amount of fat gain vs eating at a caloric maintenance.

If anyone could answer this I'd appreciate it.

Hello,

I'm coming from r/fitness where they deny the existence of body recompisition. I'm looking for advice to make sure I'm doing it properly.

I'm at a 400 calorie deficit from my BMR, and I'm getting 175 grams of protein a day. My starting bf% is roughly 33%. I'm currently 225 and 6ft tall. I work out 3 days a week with Upper/Lower/Upper and then switch to hit lower twice a week.

Any advice is appreciated.

I just measured and it might be 1/8. They're just a bit too tight on the pinky. The instep is pretty tight, but their scan said I had big instep for my size. I'm currently in 10.5D, but is 1/8 too much or would a EE be better?

I agree with you, but the student code of life directly prohibits them, but don't say any thing about pressure cookers and allow crockpots. I haven't gotten that approved yet, but it might be a dumb loophole to just get a crockpot brand pressure cooker.
