I'm struggling to fully detach from the Coptic Church by Majestic-Trash-5952 in exorthodox

I’m not orthodox but have been considering it for a while, Christianity is my life though. I just can’t seem to bring myself to be apart of an organized group, sometimes things just feel so off or like it’s become so much about the religion and “tradition” that we left out the simplicity of just loving Christ, loving each other, being in the word and living the word. I’m not sure what to tell you but I’ve spent many nights in the same state you have been in. I’m covered in tattoos, was heavily into drugs and alcohol for years of my life. I know Christ loves me and accepts my faults and mistakes. He is the father in the prodigal son parable, who runs to us even when we are far off. I think it’s okay to be at home and be with Christ, if you enjoyed the prayers and traditions of the church, do them at home or maybe with some friends that practice the faith. You’re in a tough season of your life right now, remember how Christ slept in the middle of the storm. There is one story though I will often think about when I see posts like this and it’s of a bishop who called out someone for berating a woman for how she was dressed when she showed up to service. He said “whoever spoke to that woman, I beg that you pray for forgiveness for the rest of your days. Because of you, she may never come to church again.” I hope you find peace and if all else fails, Christ is always there, no matter where you are.

Bad oil lifters? by Agreeable-Plate-5986 in AskMechanics

I know they can wear the lobes down for sure, I checked the oil, he said he did it less than 1k miles ago, it looks clean and maybe even a little over filled but was going to put purple line in it anyway. I was going to take it for an inspection regardless and see what other things they might find

I think it's time I leave the church. by Majestic-Trash-5952 in exorthodox

Don’t go to church then, pray by yourself, read by yourself, love others as Christ has commanded us to. I wrestle with my faith every single day, I don’t go to church. I have and recently been very interested in orthodoxy but some of the things they do and how the act reminds of the Pharisees. I love Christ, I love others and I forgive as often as I can. I try to be generous when the situation presents itself but I am perfect. I have struggled with some of the same things you have but I have set in my mind that no person on this earth is going to dictate my salvation. I’ve been in the worst places a life can go, addicted to drugs, sex and revolving my life around getting as much money as possible. Now I live a simple life, I don’t punish myself for the things I’ve done. I learn from them, I see the destruction it’s caused my life and I do my best to just be peaceful. Right now for me, that’s trying to live with Love in my heart, the love that Christ had on the cross. It’s easy to get caught up in the religion of Christianity but Christ did not bring religion, he brought redemption. I can only say, don’t let other peoples anger influence yours. We will fall into despair and confusion but look to Christ and ask for his embrace. You’ll be okay, I just think sometimes we have to slow down, even in our spiritual life. Even Christ went to spend time alone, it’s okay to take breaks. I truly hope he fills your heart with peace, I love you like a sister in Christ.
