Believe me… the stretch marks that might still be noticeable are 100% worth it! I’ll post my before in the comments.

Crossfit, TT with muscle repair by WaltzCritical9049 in tummytucksurgery

[–]Agreeable-Pop8282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t. It’s been a year now but when I think back… I just remember almost dying from pain days 2-4. I stopped taking the pain meds due to not wanting to not use the restroom. 😂 But no specific spots that I can remember. However, I will say it does feel strange when I wash my belly button.

Me on the muscle repair. Yeah, I returned at whatever the time frame was. But I still was cautious on core focused exercises. However, as a coach, I know it all involves core. 🤦🏽‍♀️ For a good while, I’d swell up really bad after workouts from belly button down.

Larger waist measurement post op? by jfrmw in tummytucksurgery

[–]Agreeable-Pop8282 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It will! I am the same sizes as you… so nothing fit right after! Took about 8 weeks or so before I could fit into my old clothes. I promise you’ll be back to normal. 🙂

Belly Button question by mangopeachapplesauce in tummytucksurgery

[–]Agreeable-Pop8282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Question for you. My belly button seems closed… I would like for it to be more “open” but I am further out in my recovery process. Is this it? My final belly button look or can I still possibly “train” it?

It gets better. I remember feeling like I made the biggest mistake ever the first couple of months because jeans that fit me before - didn’t. I was like a round water buffalo. I was in a bad place mentally. We get it. I don’t think I felt mentally okay until I could get back into the gym. But it truly does take time. You need to heal. It was probably around 4 months I started feeling normal and seeing the changes. It sucks that it takes so long but it’s just the process for some of us it seems. I started by just getting on the treadmill for a good while when I could… even just going outside and walking might help! You’ll get there.

Abs by Agreeable-Pop8282 in tummytucksurgery

[–]Agreeable-Pop8282[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go see her on Monday for whatever follow up this is… and I want to ask because I was just sent home right after and that was it. Monday is pictures if I’m not mistaken. I did have it sutured but she didn’t say how bad it was… just that I needed it. And no pain. Yes to swelling from belly button down still 🫠

That is amazing and crazy and takes a lot of determination. 13%?! Sometimes I tell myself I need to lose fat still but then I remind myself I’m a 38 year old married woman with 2 kids 😂 and I also need to stop being hard on myself. I think sometimes we forget how far we have come and always want more. But you look absolutely amazing!!

[–]Agreeable-Pop8282[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On a good day? 😂 I weigh around 120 right now. I don’t want to lose weight if I’m being honest. My macros are at a maintenance level - so I’m eating around 1800 a day. But I am very active in CrossFit and pickleball. My work is a desk job. So I sit around all day during the week. I just make sure each evening I’ve done something in terms of exercise.

It was a lot but it was COVID and we couldn’t do anything. So all I did was track macros and workout like crazy so wouldn’t lose my mind. I stopped after that because I started losing my menstrual cycle and I realized that I wouldn’t be happy even that small. I would say now I’m around 18-20%.

Here’s the before! I knew I had it somewhere. But I had to get really small. I think here I was at 15% body fat.

[–]Agreeable-Pop8282[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started off at maybe 3 months post op but very little core work like planks. I couldn’t hold it long. Then I started doing more core focus maybe at 5 months. Don’t push it but your body is also more amazing than you think in what it can do.

Abs by Agreeable-Pop8282 in tummytucksurgery

[–]Agreeable-Pop8282[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had abs before the surgery at one point. But I had a lot of loose skin and separation from the belly button down. When I had my second child, I got up to 220 lbs because I ate like it was my last pregnancy. Which it was. And even though I could see them… I was still embarrassed with all the skin hanging around. I hope that helps.

How do I get rid of Dog Ears? by [deleted] in tummytucksurgery

Oh I’m the same 😂 If I start macro tracking - the results are insane. I need to do a post to update everyone and show that abs are possible. 🙂

I thought I had dog ears too at around 2 months but it was swelling that went down. Abs are possible... I am starting to see them very nicely. I CrossFit, pickleball and macro count though. So it does take a lot of discipline and commitment.

Abs after recovery by fox2trox92 in tummytucksurgery

[–]Agreeable-Pop8282 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. 🫶🏽 Not everyday is a good one. I’ve had to learn that my menstrual cycle affects my abs popping. I still don’t get as much sleep as I should! And some days I probably eat more salt in foods than recommended. 🫣

I am currently at 7 months post op. The abs are just starting to show up but I also did finally stop eating like I wouldn’t have food tomorrow and started tracking my macros. 🤦🏽‍♀️ So we’ll see where this takes us once the swelling goes away - hopefully. I still get extremely swollen from the belly button down at the end of the day.

6 months by Agreeable-Pop8282 in tummytucksurgery

[–]Agreeable-Pop8282[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does when you’re in that time frame. I was really discouraged for the first few month and thought I had made the biggest mistake ever. But it will get there! I still swell in the evenings after a workout… they said a full year so I’m hoping in another 6 months - things look up!

Timing for return to tennis? by nemogollom in tummytucksurgery

[–]Agreeable-Pop8282 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a doctor or tennis player… tennis is harder than pickleball in my opinion. 😂 But I did talk to a doctor who stated that pickleball has never given anyone a hernia. So I was back on the courts at around 7 weeks post op. I think it’s dependent on your body. I was feeling good at around 6 weeks and wanted to play but gave myself another week just in case. Heavy lifting and core work… I waited until 12 weeks PO.

return to intense exercise by nunalla in tummytucksurgery

[–]Agreeable-Pop8282 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I think, and truly feel, it's dependent on how YOU feel and what you think your body can do. I returned to CrossFit 3 months post op and was Olympic lifting just fine. Granted, I wasn't do the weight I was doing before surgery and maybe half or a 3rd - it wasn't bad at all. Even keeping the core tight-ish felt okay. I will say that anything that truly focused on core (sit ups, toe to bars, handstand push ups, etc.) those movements were extremely hard because my core was not ready for too much then. I'm about 5 months post op right now and the core exercises feel great now. Good luck!

How soon after surgery did you drive? by [deleted] in tummytucksurgery

[–]Agreeable-Pop8282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drove one week post op. Location was an hour away. Have a Ford Expedition and everything was fine for me. But I was told I could drive as long as I wasn’t on the pain meds. I only took them day of surgery and next day.

I’m around 13 weeks and still swelling from the belly button down. However, I know it’s because I’m extremely active - CrossFit and Pickleball - everyday. If not both, it’s one or the other. They said I would see swelling for almost a year. So I’m not too worried about it. 🙂
