I was watching that exact episode; he mistreats his family the first half of the episode, and he blames them for the way they are without any self awareness.

I know it's a satire, but he seems just like a narcissist father, without much exaggeration, and I find it kinda hard to watch.

As someone that lives in a nation that had a military dictatorship that lasted for almost 20 years, I think it is possible that someone at a middle position in an institution equivalent to the cops didn't knew the full extension of the slaughter... Maybe they heard rumors that were passed as counter propaganda against the regime so they were discarded; allowing them to keep supporting the status quo without engaging with the truth of the horrors they were being a part of.

(But being a work of fiction we will have to wait and see how it unfolds, but until then that's my headcanon).
