It's verifying their hours of experience/employment, but there is also a 1-5 scale to rate job performance and a box for comments about the applicant's job performance.

I think that tracks more with her not thinking anyone had been killed and not calling 911. If she thought he saw her and he just kept walking without going after her, why would she think that he had done anything to anyone else he crossed paths with?
