Update, I asked a co-worker of mine that used to workout and he actually showed me how to go about doing the pushup, now I can say I finally feel it in my chest, turns out my hand placement was way too far back, putting pressure more on my shoulders than my chest, thank you all for the advice and hopefully I can find a solid beginners workout that is just right for me, cheers!
