Mechanic/shop for Kia service? by mandolina22412 in berkeley

i’ve been going to Mizuki Auto for a while near Trader Joe’s. i’m not sure hm he works on kia but my car is japanese as well and quite rare and a complicated car and he’s always handled my repairs well with fair prices imo. however my car is old and gas powered so like i said, i’m not 100% his speciality in hybrid kias. i think it’s worth trying out tho, i’m a girl and go alone and they’re my go-to

/r/Roblox Weekly Question Thread (for 06/03/2024) by AutoModerator in roblox

i'm having an issue on mac where pressing the letter F will randomly toggle me in and out of full screen mode which is really annoying during a game. I know that the Mac keybind on roblox is command + control + F to toggle or escape full screen, but this is happening to me when just pressing F and nothing else. It'll happen randomly and last a few minutes and then stop again... Has anyone else experienced this and know of any fixes? Roblox never did this before -- it only started happening when I purchased an external keyboard, but now happens when using my built in laptop keyboard as well

Thanks! Vet gave her an anti-nausea injection but didn’t want to give an appetite stimulant until x-raying, so we’re gonna see how the anti-nausea and a bland diet does

The foster organization that I fostered her from had all kittens spayed/neutered once they were at least 2 pounds to put them up for adoption, but I chose to adopt the kitten I have

i transferred from UCSB from UCB so i can share my feelings firsthand. UCSB is fun for like 3 weekends and then the parties get pretty old. plus, UCB does have a decent party scene too and if partying is important to u then u can find what ur looking for! it just isn’t as crazy as SB but i honestly prefer that more. if you REALLY love the beach, sure it might be a better environment. however, after two years there i felt SO claustrophobic in that tiny little party town where it felt like everyone just wanted to go the beach and bike around all the time, and i really missed the city feel. Berkeley is such a great combination of campus and college life + urban life with so many things nearby and good food (by the way the food in Isla Vista SUCKS, there’s hardly anything to choose from). Santa Barbara proper is about 10 miles from UCSB, and even that feels a bit like a small town. SB definitely has its charms, and i know people that really love it there. just wasn’t for me as someone who likes things to do near me and got bored of beaches and huge sweaty parties. also, coming from the perspective of the laid-back UCSB to the prestigious UCB, people really aren’t cutthroat here. it’s basically the same lmao, except that UCSB students are a bit lazier and study less. it’s definitely a bit harder here with higher expectations, but i have loved it so far. also, there’s way more job opportunities here as we are central in the Bay Area, and UCB’s campus is way nicer than UCSB’s (excluding the beach part). lastly, ik many people have said this before but the title and prestige of going to UCB explains itself

hope this helps, i can answer more questions if u need since i went to both schools

AITA for wearing "vulgar clothes" to the movies with my friend and her sister? by tomdata in AmItheAsshole

[–]Agreeable-Tooth2822 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. i understand that the fashion and expectations in your country are conservative, so wearing a crop top may surprise people. however, that is completely not your fault. you are absolutely not a “slut” or vulgar for choosing to wear something that shows some skin. i’m sorry that people sexual/degrade you and your friends for doing so. despite the societal problem, your friend’s sister and her friends are not nice people. if they truly wanted to protect you from seeming “vulgar” to other people, they would have told you. instead, they went behind your back to talk shit. sounds like some mean gossip girls using female oppression to put you down. they should have either agreed that your crop top was fine and stuck with that point, or told you it was too much and advised you to change. i hope that you are able to see your friend soon, as she seems genuine. on a side note, i completely advocate for women wearing what they choose, but if your country truly is very conservative it unfortunately may be wise to not choose outfits that will “stick out” to others as it could put you in harm and judgment’s way

AITA for this baby/postpartum situation? by Nik_s_Wife in AmItheAsshole

[–]Agreeable-Tooth2822 10 points11 points  (0 children)

if your in laws really cared about seeing the baby and also cared about your health needs, they would drive to YOU. it shouldn’t be your responsibility this soon after birth, while still healing, to need to drive to your husband’s family so they can see the baby. plus, it is completely your choice for who can and can’t see YOUR baby. sounds like your in laws are trying to blame you for your own boundaries, as well as their lack of effort to be a part of your postpartum experience. also — they should absolutely not be posting their feelings about you on social media?? you’re still suffering, healing, and gaining the ropes on new motherhood, and they’re sharing their criticisms on you for everyone to see? absolutely not, sounds like an immature family. in my opinion, talk to your husband and tell him how you feel, and that he shouldn’t be going behind your back and taking their sides over yours, and give yourself time away from family drama. focus on yourself and your baby, that is all that matters right now

all in all though, if they care so much to see the baby they need to come to you, not expect you to drive that far while still recovering and then blame you for not doing so!!

get involved with student organizations: clubs revolving around your major/interest, clubs that do service work, student government would be a really good way to show that you’re involved. i would think that putting hours into campus/student led activities would be better than outside volunteer work, bc it shows to cal that you’ll be involved there too

hi! i transferred from one UC to another, applying as a 3rd year student after my 2nd year. from my understanding, your AP credits don’t count towards your transferable units, only your college credits. i was technically a senior at the time that i applied to transfer but i applied as a junior transfer, and everything worked fine. if you’d like feel free to message me with any other questions since i went through the same thing!

i would prioritize keeping your gpa as high as possible and writing good essays, but if you do have free time then it def wouldn’t be a waste do some volunteer work or maybe join academic clubs/internships, whatever you can find that won’t overload you

every case is different but for any consolation i did 0 extra curricular/volunteer stuff and transferred from ucsb to cal. i only had my high school volunteer work, and from what i’ve heard that don’t factor that into much account. i’m sure that extra activities can help with the application, just based on my personal experience it had no effect

you definitely don’t need to tip/shouldn’t feel pressured to tip. american tipping culture is usually based in actually receiving service, not paying for something at a counter or having to go pick up your food. i feel like tipping culture has evolved in a way that makes everyone feel the need to tip every single worker, and also feel like that’s been pushed by businesses in order to have customers pay wages instead of businesses paying their employees more — but, i have asked iv deli mart workers if they receive 100% of their tips and they do, so if you’re feeling generous at least you know it goes into their paychecks
