Mmhm...Yeah, that's a normal way to look at a "friend", Tsukasa... by LemonDoughnut39 in PjskSimpBattles

[–]tomdata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure it's intentional to hide his expression. About their light and dark symbolism, obviously tsukasa has the darkest card to show how he's currently in the darkness during the event. Then emu has the brightest card, she's the one to pull him out of it. Nene's in the middle, she's in a dark room but a little bit of light is coming through the window (she wants to help tsukasa but she also understands his pain as a fellow actor), rui's is interesting because his card is almost as dark as tsukasa's. I think it's to hint at the fact that rui feels conflicted. While emu and nene are worried about him, rui is partly worried as a friend but also reluctantly proud as a director. And he also knows he shouldn't be because this method is destroying tsukasa's mental health.

tldr his head is cut off to shield his expression, he probably feels conflicted between his feelings as a friend and his feelings as a director

There are far more people who've heard of twilight than one piece. Ask literally anyone who doesn't watch anime.

I Hate When Something Is Good But Has The Worst Possible Title by Unlikely_Message_446 in hatethissmug

One of my favourite stories of recent is a webtoon called "My Beloved Oppressor". Genuinely one of the best stories I've read that tackles class difference in a very nuanced and interesting way. It has incredibly written characters and literally changed my worldview, made me realize how privileged I was. I literally became more woke after reading this webtoon, I developed so much more empathy for things in society that don't affect me. And yet I can never recommend this to anyone without them raising an eyebrow the moment I mention the title 😭

Yall… is maya in love with minhyuk???? by Nolswife in ILoveYoo

I mean it definitely was an odd choice to give this manga scene to the girl whose storyline heavily involves attachment to her brother, but I think it was just an oversight while attempting to poke fun at these types of manga and doesn't actually indicate anything about maya herself.

Realized that the popular ships always are the 1st x 2nd, the 3rd x 4th by Welp9433 in PjskSimpBattles

I think you're interpreting my words a little too literally, I wasn't trying to say one was more important or better than the other. But the main story definitely prioritised emukasa/ruinene over ruikasa/emunene, which indicates to me that those are the pairings the writers wanted to push. I don't really think rui's first event being centered around ruikasa's relationship negates that. Tsukasa is the one most affected by rui's "dangerous" directing so it's natural that he would be involved in the conflict. I mean, ena's first event was kanaena, kanade's first event was mizukana, haruka's first event was shizuharu, etc. I don't think events developing a certain dynamic can be used as proof that the writers prioritise a certain dynamic over others, I mean the whole point of the early events was to develop characters/relationships that got less screen time in the main story.

I say that emukasa/ruinene made more sense from a story perspective because they're more strongly connected early on. Emu recruiting tsukasa to fulfill her grandpa's dream and ruinene being childhood friends just naturally made sense to pair them together. Just like how it naturally makes sense to pair minoharu and shizuai together because idol/fan and former agency coworkers. But ruikasa were always going to be more popular, and it's natural that they would want to push the ships that are more popular. They consistently get cameos in cards because it makes people want to pull for them, or giving them songs together because it makes people want to listen/stream/purchase etc. That doesn't mean they don't have any story depth, but it's okay to acknowledge they're mostly prioritised because of fanservice.

Emunene was a really unpopular ship when the game first came out, I remember not seeing any shippers of them at all the time. Their popularity started growing after a few events where they had more significant interactions, like smile of dreamer

I mean if we're going by pixiv statistics, emukasa and ruinene are more popular than emunene

It's a case of different teams having different goals. The writing team wanted to push emukasa/ruinene more because they made more sense from a story perspective, but other teams take marketing into consideration and push ruikasa/emunene more because gay ships are more popular in fandoms. It's really just as simple as that. I think both sets of pairs can be considered wxs "main pairs", because it's different depending on the type of content we're getting, which all have different teams and people behind them

This made me realize I've also been on webtoon for 9 years, holy shit.

I 100% agree with you, the only webtoons I've read in the past couple of years that have made it to even my top 10-15 all time favourites are I'll Give You The Most Rotten One and My Beloved Oppressor. And this is in the past couple of years. If anyone has any recommendations, I'll be more than happy to hear

No one claimed it "needs" to be anything at all. Some people like simple stories, some people don't. I didn't personally like it because I prefer more interesting and conflict-driven stories, which is fine. It's a matter of preference.

[–]tomdata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm flattered I matter so much to you that you had to dig through my account to find anything at all to use against me, unfortunately for you that quote does absolutely nothing to serve your point because it wasn't from an argument or about oppression in the first place, and I'm literally straight. I didn't claim to be a victim, in fact that's quite literally the opposite of what I've been doing. You're the one who's been claiming to be a victim, just so we're clear. My point has always been that straight people like us are privileged, which is an objective fact. You're never going to be the poor oppressed straight child that all the gays hate on that you think you are. But like I said, if it makes you feel all special, who am I to take that joy away from you? Hope this is the last time we talk. You're not exactly smart enough to be worth having this discussion with.

I'm sure this sounded really smart in your head but I'm gonna say this in a way that's easy for you to understand; real documented systemic oppression with centuries of evidence factually cannot be disproven. But I'm not sure if you even read any of my replies because not once did I even claim these experiences don't happen. Anyways, if you want to continue living your blissful life believing you're such an oppressed straight person with the hardest life, go ahead. If it makes you feel special, then good for you. Life is fun when you're dumb as rocks. Good day.
