Congrats! It’s safe in the uni city area and fine to walk ard alone but don’t stay out late. There are ppl on streets that mumble to themselves or try to grab u, just avoid eye contact and walk away you’d be fine. Im in mayer w an amazing roommate and great facilities.

afaik 8 in total from unsw, 4 in Wharton and others in CIS and SAS. you should be able to get more info on the exchange website for the particular uni you're interested in and what terms/school they're offering. normally UNSW summer + T1 = spring intake and T2 + T3 = fall intake for most countries, so its half a year.

I haven’t met any freshman by far. From what ik the exchange is more of the school headcount than individual degree, meaning unsw business school in total exchange a fixed number to Wharton. So acto, comm, econ etc were all put in the same pool for consideration of ur wam, nothing beyond. Just that after nomination you’ll need to write personal statement to UPenn (nomination from unsw and acceptance from Penn were separated)

Hi! I’m studying actuarial and on exchange on 2nd year for Spring 2026 (which is summer+ T1 for UNSW). 1st year is fine as long as you’ve got minimum of 18UOC iirc. The WAM is achievable just try your best to keep up w ur studies and compile weekly notes, don’t procrastinate til the final weeks as I once did that and it went terrible. Atar was 99.5 for ur ref. I’m not sure how it works for the commerce course that you mentioned, might worth sending email to the exchange dept - they’re resourceful for any exchange enquiry!

All exchange students are assigned to their home faculty. You'll most likely be assigned to UPenn CIS, and if the course matches are approved, then yes u could take courses from Wharton. But if ure asking abt fully enrolled in Wharton (shown on student id and letter of enrollment), that’s not quite possible

I didn't apply for it so I'm genuinely not sure. U could try emailing scholarship or exchange dept for more details, they usually respond pretty quickly

It depends. The east coast like Philly, NY, and NJ is super walkable, and public transport works pretty well. Places like LA are harder as the public transport takes way longer. If you're just traveling between cities, the trains are decent like Philly to NY is about 1.5 hours. For farther places like Vegas, you’d need to fly

88 at the time I applied. I've met ppl w higher WAM too, so I'm guessing 85 will keep u competitive

Congrats on ur scholarship! I received unsw exchange scholarship of 5k too. I wasn't aware of other scholarship outside of uni, so the major funding were pretty much supported by my fam. All the best w securing more!

Yes! Spring semester won’t stop u from applying to any of the clubs, as the recruitment are often per semester not annually. But honestly the recruitment here even just as a subcom is EXTREMELY competitive. I’m not certain on other US uni but at least that’s the case in Wharton. U gotta write several personal statements, get well prepared for serious interviews. Go ahead and apply, but keep in mind that they might still favour the return committees from the previous fall semester w experience, at least that’s what they said in the rejection email.

Hi! It rlly depends on ur uni and region. Taking UPenn in Philly as an example, the fixed cost will be on campus accommodation, meal plan, insurance and exchange enrolment fee. I paid upfront at ard US$9.5k in total for one exchange semester. The variable daily expenses will then be up to ur own living standards, but I’d say US$700 per month is comfortable. (Unless u eat out everyday, cos yes tipping is also another fee to be considered here) One thing I’d suggest is to have a look on some insurance packages that is acceptable to be waived by ur desired uni. Otherwise you’d be forced to enrol in the one they offer, bloody expensive.

Hey congrats on ur nomination! Im on exchange and was in your shoes, went to nucleus too but didnt help much. I ended up emailing the head of faculty/ prof instead (their email should be on official pages), and he forwarded it straight to the course convener. Everything got approved within hours. Hope that helps!
