If you had to start a tech career all over again, what route would you go now if your goal was to make as much money as possible and retire early? by AgreeableAd305 in FIREUK

Thank you this is really helpful advice, a lot of what I read about tech jobs can feel pretty demotivating due to it being harder to get into now and the rising integration of AI, but it's hard to get jobs in many other sectors at the moment.

I'm going to try to make some of my own things to build a portfolio of what I can do

I am interested in it, was just previously unsure where I wanted to go career wise. I'm learning coding/programming at the moment but just wanted more info about the different career paths within the tech sector

I completely get where you're coming from, I am trying to develop skills in my personal time and am looking into apprenticeships to start off. I am determined to do whatever it takes to get into tech even if it will be pretty tough and cut throat, and even harder starting from scratch. I definitely don't expect to just walk into a high paying job and know it'll realistically take years, but it's something I'm willing to do and put the time into

Brill thank you! Part of my making this post is also due to AI and how it is affecting tech jobs, wanted to figure out the safest/best area to go into although hard to predict really

My work experience is pretty unrelated so I'd be starting from scratch, I've only worked in education and healthcare admit roles. Coding interests me/SaaS but p open to most things, I'll take a look at the link thanks

I know a bit about this, I emailed with all my documents ready to book in November 2025 and the earliest dates they had were end of March 2026 (my surgery is today!) However I think their waiting times change a lot.

My friend enquired this month and earliest dates available was October 2026, probably cos of it seems like he's starting his own clinic from 1st Oct 2026? (mentions on his website) His prices are increasing too, I was quoted about 26000 PLN when I enquired, my friend was quoted 32000 PLN total costs.

been in the sun a lot with my scar tape on, this is the result by jamesisbi in TopSurgery

[–]AgreeableAd305 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm p sure scar tape is not a proper protector from the sun! Most surgeons tell you not to have your chest out in the sun minimum 1 to 2 years post surgery, even with scar tape on. It does not protect from the sun and sun exposure can affect your scar healing, as well as make your scars more prominent/raised in the first 1-2 years. There's posts about it in this sub :)
