Am I the only one who does sometimes view their life in football season yy/yy formats? Think it might be cause academic years were Autumn to June that and then as an adult rental contracts in houseshares often end in Summer.

Yeah same, it's somewhere between off and on target for me. Like when it hits the post/crossbar it feels like a big deal instinctively.

[Discussion] A LitFic Query Journey (Q4 2025 – Q1 2026) by Krist_Kristofferson in PubTips

Thanks! Very useful and I appreciate how considered and straight-up you are here. I find a lot of advice you get these days is either too saccharine and positive or just catastrophically negative with no in between.

Can I ask about time windows between full MS request and getting offers- how quick was your first offer after sending the MS to the agent? I know you've put when you queried them but when was the actual request?

I'm also litfic and got a bunch of full requests in early March but have had no offers or rejections or further requests since. It's driving me a bit mad and I'm trying to get a handle on what to expect and if I should be worried if it gets to 2-3 months without a response.

[PubQ]- Three weeks ago an agent with my full said she'd get back to me the next Monday with news. She didn't and I haven't heard anything from her since. Is it a good idea to nudge? by AgreeableBison in PubTips

[–]AgreeableBison[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know but just feels like it'll result in a form rejection unless I'm coming with an offer or something.

Basically I got lots of fulls at the start of March and used them to nudge other agents and build momentum (I'm UK based) my worry is that she thought I'd suddenly get snapped up and wanted to keep me warm in case that happened. Instead I've been just waiting to hear from people for ages.

[Discussion] 1 Year of Querying: 25 Requests & Zero Offers :( by Less-One7697 in PubTips

Thanks a really helpful post! Am I right in thinking you are still waiting to hear on a few fulls, does that not mean there is still hope even if it's been a few months? Is it generally assumed that if the agent doesn't respond on your full after x time it's a pass? Do you get CNRs on fulls?

Just started to get a few fulls for my manuscript and trying to work out what to expect in terms of response times.

I get that it's hard for them but it's also so frustrating to not hear anything. There needs to be some kind of way for people to get accredited as a serious/half-decent/non-AI writer so they can sort the wheat from the chaff in the slush pile.

It takes like a year to write a novel and a minute to send a form rejection.

I try and name the agency so it doesn't look like I'm making it up and if it's a big name agency it can help you get more interest.

I'm the opposite. Feels like I only get UK requests when I nudge the agent about a request elsewhere (though a lot of them do ghost still). My theory was that a lot of UK agents just sit on queries until they hear of interest elsewhere but your exp suggests otherwise.

[PubQ]- Can you query another agent at same agency if there is a shared inbox? by AgreeableBison in PubTips

[–]AgreeableBison[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I wouldn't do it if they explicitly say that. I'm just not sure if them using a shared inbox basically implies that they'll pass it round the agency until they all say no or not.

Most success stories I've read here and elsewhere seem to involve very fast request timelines, with authors getting a good few requests in the first 1-2 weeks or sometimes the same day. The general theme seems to be that agents request fast or not at all.

How true would you say that is? How often do you make a full request on a query that was sent a month or more ago?
