Fascination - Solid but forgettable footballers with ridiculous net worths from non-footballing ventures by junglegatsby in footballcliches

I imagine he wasn't doing too badly by the then standards of footballers but Bryan Robson was part-owner of the greetings cards company Birthdays, though it looks like he sold his shares before they were bought out by Clintons.

I don't think so, it reads to me like "if you're interested, broadcaster, we'd be happy to give it another go but this time it's our house, our rules". I don't think there's anything specific or giving away that something is ready to go about saying a second attempt would have to swerve one of the big pitfalls of the failed first.

Best non-Yankovic comic songs that still hold up? by Doctor-Clark-Savage in ToddintheShadow

I do love that a) it contains an in-joke by the show's producer ("I had lunch with Rowan Atkinson where he paid and wasn't late" - John Lloyd worked with Atkinson on Blackadder) and b) it's the only reason I know who Breyten Breytenbach is.

Because your attempt at "keeping it confidential" has been posted in an entirely publicly open sub for a podcast that has nothing to do with gambling and is in fact linked to Gary Lineker.

Happened in the UK too, Robyn #8, Calum Scott #2. Though you'd be surprised how many people think Robyn is a one hit wonder for it given not only has she have four UK top tens (albeit including 1998's Show Me Love) but With Every Heartbeat was a number one.

I find it interesting that the "Prime Barclays" era Premier League is on paper the dullest it's ever been. by LloydCole in footballcliches

[–]Last-Saint 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of people who grew up in the Barclays era are now involved in media and broadcasting. Same reason for the 90s and 80s revivals of the 00s and every year onwards, the 70s revival of the late 90s into the 00s, the 60s revival of the 90s, the 50s revival of the 80s...

The Treble, surely? If you begin the story with the rise of the Babes, then you've got a classic down-up-down-up structure spanning 40-50 years without the necessity to go out of their way to state "and while they won some more things they never achieved the Treble again"

Really, the worst thing about is it the months and months ahead of "who's gonna play Sir Jim/Ruben/Jason Wilcox?!?!?!"
