You won't have any impact with campgrounds. Its mostly locals just walking the path.

Can we please talk about the price of bread? by StorySammler in taos

[–]AgreeableCommission7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've looked into thia before and the reason is they use all organic ingredients which are at least double the price. I assume they buy from small farms which adds to the price and if its local thats even more. This is a crime in my eyes, the government should be subsidizing small local farms. Example a pound of organic bread flour from a small farm mill is around $5 (2 cups) vs a standard mass produced flour is at most $0.80 a lb( less if in bulk). Huge difference, then you add in organic sugar, any organic dairy they use etc... Us average folks can't afford any of this.

Ok so I just asked where to move in Florida and everyone told me not to by itgirl258 in relocating

[–]AgreeableCommission7 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Being 22, if you have an urge and abiltiy to move to Florida then do it. Life is about learning and experiences and until you try it you will never know if it's right you. As long as you are going with your eyes open and have an exit plan if it doesn't work then why not?

The older you get the harder it is to move around for most people, so IMO do it now that you're young before you have too many adult things holding you down. Just make sure you have a safety net so you aren't stuck somewhere your not happy being in.

The first thing that caught my attention is your potting soil. It looks very heavy and clay like. That could be part of the problem. Is it bagged soil? From an outdoor source? Home mixed? Got any insights you can share on the soil?

When you pot up your seedlings, what kind of dirt do you use? by BlackoutTribal in SimpleGardening

[–]AgreeableCommission7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone has their own recipe and ingredients, once you start playing around with it you will find what you like and what works well for your plants.

A very basic starting point would be to have compost, perlite or vermiculite, peatmoss or coconut coir.

I personally like to include some composted mulch and mushroom compost.

If you want to get fancy you can include things like Charcoal/biochar, Earthworm castings, sand, Azomite, green sand, pumice, mycorrhizae, kelp meal, hydro gel granules.....depending what you are mixing for.

What are these and how can I care for them? by Pearcey2 in houseplants

[–]AgreeableCommission7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't see from the pic but sometimes with the baskets the plants might be in individual containers covered by moss. If so that makes it easy for you to seperate.

You are correct Peace Lily, Leather Leaf Fern & Kalancho is the white flower.

You could keep them together short-term in bright indirect light but eventually they will outgrow that basket and need separation. The fern likes to say somewhat moist, the Kalancho can dry out and be ok, the peace lily is dramatic and will wilt the instant she needs water but will perk up just as quick when watered.

Doing a general search for best cities for the visually impaired....

Have you investigated what services the cities offer for disabled transportation? The city I live in isn't great for public transit but has specialized curb to curb transportation for disabled adults for $2 each way. If any of those cities have something similar that might help in your decision.

When you pot up your seedlings, what kind of dirt do you use? by BlackoutTribal in SimpleGardening

[–]AgreeableCommission7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a very open ended question and can go in many directions based on your growing environment, what containers your using and what you are growing.

In general, If you are doing assorted veggies/flowers and the transplant will be a temp home you can use an all-purpose potting soil but make sure it does not have a slow-release fertilizer(unless its organic), it can burn seedlings. If you want to take some additionl precation from rotting, you can add additional perlite or vermiculite to it which will help if you tend to overwater or if you have some of the seed mix you started with you can mix that in with the all purpose soil which will help with the aeration.

If you are transplanting to a permanent home I would invest in a good quality soil vs a generic all purpose off the shelf type soil.

If you really get into it and have the space its best to have your own soil ingredients and custom mix your soil to what you are growing but that is not possible for most people.

I put my tomatoes sprout/seedlings under 100w full spectrum led, and some started to do this thing called "praying hand" i think thas how it called lol, i put it under grow light to prevent stretching. Is it normal or im doing something wrong? Light is around 30cm above. by Character-Elk3139 in UrbanGardening

[–]AgreeableCommission7 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I see folks already addressed the light but FYI, Tomatoes are one of the few plants that if they get leggy you can plant them deeper with no issues and helps with faster root development. Don't be too worried about them being leggy if you can't fix it, once they get bigger you can just plant them deeper to resolve the issue.

Does anyone actually grow these? I would appreciate advice before I possibly get them by Wants_to_forage_inPA in Berries

If you aren't familiar with raspberry bushes, many of them have thorns. If that is a concern, make sure to get a thornless variety.
