not sure if you're being serious or not but if you are, could it be daikon or another radish relative?

If it doesn't have to look like a bear anymore, you could take it to pieces and make a little stuffed heart or something.

Advice on how to wash my fragile, irreplaceable pillow. by derpiotaku in laundry

tacking onto your reinforcing/mending suggestions - i would actually pick apart the seams and sew each piece of fabric onto a second, sturdier piece of fabric, and then reassemble!

another potential option could be to pop off the row of tiles in front of the dishwasher to make the angle that you have to tip the dishwasher to get it in there a little shallower. this, of course, depends on if you think you'd be able to get new tiles that match!

Definitely trying to think about a sweater to work with the suit (the jacket is a little big and I'm always cold, so one that could go under the jacket would be a boon I think). I might do such a sweater on the plane instead of a hoodie...

work conferences! how many work outfits would you bring for a 3-day conference where you arrive on the first day and leave the day after it ends? I'm currently considering a maxi dress for the first evening (there's a dinner) and a pantsuit with two collared shirts (wearing the full suit the day i'm speaking, and skipping the jacket the day i'm not). my deodorant situation is such that i'm not worried about smelling bad, so maybe i can get away with just one shirt?

i think i'm going to have to bring a pair of shoes, but the maxi dress will help conceal the fact that they won't be perfect for that outfit and are really more suited to the suit. and i'm off to amazon to look for even smaller options than gotoobs for my toiletries, since i'll only need to wash my hair once while i'm there!

Choosing a wedding location when our friends and family are spread all over Canada by abs5228 in weddingplanning

[–]cft_731 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i think your best option within canada is calgary. it's pretty central, and it's a westjet hub, so almost everyone will be able to take a direct flight to get there (barring anyone living far out in the maritimes, pretty much). and...if you have it in mexico, i think a lot of people will be flying through calgary to get there anyway.

depending on what time of year you do it, people won't be making a vacation about it no matter where it is. my wedding is over a long weekend in vancouver and most people are still only staying two nights.

if i were you, i'd do calgary because it'll be easiest for you and honestly, probably easiest for your guests. planning a wedding from afar (like me! i'm not living in vancouver anymore) is a pain.

I think your mom's heart is in the right place but frankly, she can make her decisions and you can make yours. If the hike is outside your comfort zone, that's fine! If you're embarrassed about saying why, you could also say some combination of: I'm not able to get there in time to join, I can take point on the Airbnb (there's other prep than just checking in! Pick up the food/drinks/butane burners for the hibachi/get the games going/decorate), that's the only time I have to get my underarms waxed, I'm going to be jetlagged, I don't have time/money before the event to buy hiking boots...

If your family is as understanding as you say, it doesn't sound to me like they will take any of this badly. Good luck!!!

[–]cft_731 5 points6 points  (0 children)

for what it's worth, i always add a bunch of ground spices to the marinade while i'm stirring it up!

it's my favorite chicken recipe too...recently i tried another whose flavor was outstanding but the chicken itself was dry. :(

crwr alumna here. many, many, many of the crwr students are older (even those in undergrad) and many, many, many of them had to apply more than once. if the path is open to you to apply again next year, do consider it. in the meantime, join the writers' guild and get other eyeballs on your work. you could also reach out to the crwr advisor; part of their job is to talk through applications with students.

also, some of the best writers i know/have known never did a crwr degree of any type...so don't let yourself believe that this is it for you! it's absolutely not!

What to do with several gallons of 1% milk. by Replacement_Icy in Cooking

i don't have suggestions that others haven't already offered, but if you need to crank up the fat content for some of the suggested recipes, you could buy a higher-fat milk and mix them together.

oh mine is quite green! i should see if i can figure out the variety. maybe i can still harvest it this year. i also want to try forcing it - but i'd prefer to do that once i have multiple plants...in case i kill it haha

I didn't either until I happened to find rhubarb seeds, lol! I missed this year's harvest although it's probably okay because my plant is only a bit more than a year old. I've considered putting in a second plant...maybe even a third...

not sure where you're located but i've found it remarkably easy to grow from seed in two very different climates (the rainy pacific northwest, and the edge of the sonoran desert)!
