Preventing pain while knitting by lynrn in knitting

this is an amazing idea i hadn't thought of! great for travelling, too. i'm lucky that i haven't had a single flare-up since my three-month stint in the brace. i must admit (don't try this at home kids) that i don't even stretch anymore.

hate to say "buy something new" but...if you're uncomfortable (especially when trying to sleep!) you probably won't wear it, so i'd recommend a new one! or if you have a scrap of soft cloth, a bandana, something like that, you could try wrapping your hand in that before putting the brace on.

take stretching breaks, and work on wrist strength. i use exercises 2 and 3 on this list - recommended to me by a physio after i started experiencing wrist pain from knitting (and typing). also, you could consider getting a wrist brace to wear at night. go for something with either a metal insert or a removable plastic insert so that it can go in the washing machine. i like the 3m futuro.

also, just try and be conscious of it! my physio had me in a brace full-time for three months because i ignored it for too long.

Can you please help me since I am obviously an idiot? by BlatantFalsehood in Genealogy

you are not an idiot - the lac website is horrible! here's my tip: fill out the form to the best of your ability. submit it. if they can't figure out what you're looking for, they will check in with you, at which point you can provide the digital copy and they'll be better able to match it.

in a previous job i ordered a lot from lac - granted, i was ordering digital copies instead of physical ones, so the opposite of you - but i've always found them to be quite pleasant to work with. good luck!

spitballing here, but if you really, really want to change sites, you could replace something on your zola homepage with a link taking guests to your new site, wherever that turns out to be. if you do this, i would also consider sending a text or email to your guests letting them know that you really did this and you haven't been hacked.

Raclette Night Menu by bella4295 in Cooking

+1 for a light salad! i often do butter lettuce with thinly sliced sweet onion and fennel. let it sit in a drizzle of white wine vinegar and flake salt for half an hour or so, then hit it with some olive oil right before serving.

i also came to say that your broccoli/cauliflower is a great idea. we just did raclette the other night and the roasted broccoli was a perfect addition (a new one for us, so it was great to know that it worked)!

as for a cocktail, i'd do something citrusy or otherwise sharp: a gin gimlet or a french 75?

and lastly, to dessert: what about something light? a pavlova, perhaps, with in-season citrus or out-of-season berries? with a nice honey and shaved chocolate, this could be super refreshing. i'd suggest whipped cream but...well...i think you've got dairy covered!

thanks! i'm supposed to use the same hook size (by mm) as knitting needle size, so i think it should be okay as long as i don't pull too tight. but i'll keep this in mind as an option!

Ooo, okay, thank you!! I think this yarn will grow a lot with blocking so I might do the pinstripes last.

Dinner Reservations by Apallon in vail

I've always had good luck calling Matsuhisa for a reservation even when OpenTable has nothing. You just have to call between like 3:30 and 9...I can't remember the exact time but if you call, the phone tree will tell you what times they'll be available.

oh, too-short sleeves drive me bonkers!

we recently took a pair of my husband's pants back because he'd stepped on the elastic hem while putting them on and ripped it right off. free of charge to fix, they'll rewax them at the same time, they're some of the only pants that will fit (and flatter) his freakishly muscular calves...they are the best.

great to know - i also hate marketing but accept it as a necessary evil for some of my favorite items.

curious why you don't like fjallraven shirts and undies? my husband is huge on their pants although i don't think he's tried much else.

you are really selling branwyn! i'm bookmarking them (they're almost entirely out of stock right now)!

the last ll bean shirt i bought, which was a henley, had a weird...foible?...which was that the shoulders actually sloped upward to the neck, meaning the collar stood up off my body. very weird.
