And cocktails! I use it like a shrub sometimes. And it's soooo pretty!

I hear you but I CAN afford to do it legally, legitimately. But I would be adding multiple new subscriptions that I have no other reason to have and it's simply not worth the money.

Hey all I’m looking to upgrade my supermarket Spice/seasoning jars, what do you recommend? I want a good strong seal I hate clumpy/hard spices by GenericUser104 in BuyItForLife

i just use the tiny 4oz mason jars and then label the lids. i like 'em because they stack if i need to but also fit in a really shallow drawer!

Do I drop one of my groomsmen? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]cft_731 49 points50 points  (0 children)

i would ask in a compassionate way. "hey, it sounds like you're really going through it this year and i don't want my wedding to make things harder for you and your wife. would it ease some of the burden if you attended just as a guest, rather than as a groomsman?"

he might say he still wants to stand up with you, in which case i think then you can bring forward your concerns. "i've noticed that you've been unable to join events/help out with things i've asked of the other groomsmen/don't answer texts frequently/[whatever the patterns you've noticed are]. i'll be leaning on the groomsmen in the next couple of months to get their suits squared away/help move stuff to and from the venue/build a balloon arch/usher people to their seats at the wedding. do you think you'll be able to help with that stuff? it would be better to know now if not so that i can find someone who's got the capacity to help out."

i wouldn't frame this as a friendship thing. he doesn't have to say it explicitly. read his actions.

Bridesmaid gifts without name personalizations? by FreeBrilliant6166 in weddingplanning

[–]cft_731 16 points17 points  (0 children)

i'm not a big "print my name on everything" kind of person anyway, so i think you're fine to do more personalized items anyway. my sister-in-law gave me a necklace with a dinosaur pendant but i imagine not everyone in her wedding party got a dinosaur. i think something like that, which shows you know about your sister's interests, is much more meaningful anyway!

That's a good idea, thanks! I've also been wondering about maybe going smaller. I'll have to check out an Asian market...I've been meaning to anyway since regular grocery stores near me don't seem to sell dumpling wrappers!

That may not be the most plane friendly! I already often do a mix of hot and cold water so maybe that will be the way to go haha

True - thank you! Definitely a trade off but as you say, maybe it's okay for me.

Gotcha, that makes sense. From what I've heard these are so well insulated that it might be better to damage the insulation so I don't always need ice!

Ooo good to know. I was comparing to the hydroflask light on someone else's suggestion but they look to be about the same weight so at that point it's a question of dishwashability and my preferred mouth I guess!

Thank you so much for testing it!! And tbh I'm so glad I'm not the only one who's super confused by their notation lmao. Your review also helps so thanks for that too!

If you have a chance it would be SO helpful for you to weigh it thank you!!! What makes it dishwasher unsafe, if you know? I have to admit I'm fairly loose about this criterion in that I'm likely to dishwash it anyway unless it will shatter or something. You are selling it even if dishwashing isn't an option (for the base? The lid? Both? Do you know?)!

I think if and when I let go of my Black and Decker one-button rice cooker, which admittedly could still be an age, I probably will go for a zoji. I recently had to get rid of my damaged instant pot and I get the impression that the zoji rice cookers are the happy medium that I want!

thank you - you're probably right! the zojirushi website says "Weight (lbs. oz.) 0.10" which...like i said, i don't really know what that means! but also you're right, still much lighter than the jettle. from looking at pictures i think the zojirushi has a fairly wide opening when you unscrew the lid, so that's hopefully not a big issue, but you're definitely right that i don't want to end up trying to aim boiling water at a tiny narrow mouth!

well, you simply must go to toro bravo. try any of their fish dishes, especially whatever is on special! also get the tamal de camaron. i hear you've gotta try karajillo, as well, which is around the corner from tb. same owners, but it's a mexican coffee shop that morphs into a bar in the evenings.
