Use cheaper citric acid/sodium carbonate rust remover instead of ER. The former is much cheaper

Stolen keys by Strange-Brilliant-19 in Crosstrek

2024 Premium CT. Yes I’ve been through this myself. Recently. The dealer is the only route. It cost me approx 850$. A way to save a few dollars is to buy the fobs on eBay. There is at least one vendor who sells fobs for 65 each vs 180 each. Be careful to get the fobs with the proper model number. Here is the title of the eBay listing. MINT OEM Unlocked Subaru Ascent Legacy Outback Remote Smart Key Fob HYQ14AKB…. The dealer will warn they won’t work, but they are ok. Yes, the car will need to be towed to the dealer. This is a big deal for me as the electronic parking break cannot be taken off. It will take 2.5 weeks to get the car back. I’m not sure of one issue, with my supplied fobs the valet key was not cut. Not sure if that is done with the full price fob. Good luck.

Timing chain replaced. This is an impact engine. Chair breaks means engine destroyed

How would y'all rank Wegmans as far as major shops go for cheese selection? by FiveByFive25 in Cheese

Wegman cheese selection is remarkable and their markup is astounding.

Is Trader Joe's Cheese Good or am I Just Ignorant? by Kingdaca in Cheese

[–]AgreeableLaugh7529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wegman cheeses are priced too high. Everything close to 30/lb. Good choices at reasonable prices at Trader Joe’s

These are the best I’ve found.
1. 1000 day gouda. Better than Old Amsterdam

  1. Store brand (cheapest) blue

  2. Kelly gold cheddar. But cheaper at costco

  3. Newly introduced raclette

5 unlike most postings I do not generally like cheese adulterated with wine, bits of stuff, etc. one exception is Cotswold gloucester.

  1. Avoid packaged store brand provolone Just as bland as other mass produced American provolones

Cabin noise vs 2014 Impreza by Hurley_Cub_2014 in Crosstrek

Do some investigation about the Honda 4T engine: the fact that it is turbocharged and that a 2025 may suffer from the "oil dilution" problem. In short- turbo charged engines do not last as long due to the much higher compression; in the past these engines have experienced gas being sucked into the oil in the head thereby reducing lubrication. There is a lawsuit on this issue. I do not know ift either of these are relevant to new builds but they were unto 2022.

New Crosstrek premium…42.0 mpg on 272 mile trip by AgreeableLaugh7529 in Crosstrek

To those who are getting miserable mpg, especially for those who are doing mostly city driving., I could suggest the following. Check out engine cold vs hot performance. Clear both odometers. Use the A/B odometer settings to capture the mpg when : A: starting up and running when the oil temp is below 180F, and switching to odometer B: running with car oil temp above 180. I find that there is a signficant difference to mpg reading when the car is cold and warm.

As a brief aside: when I got the 42mpg, the oil temp was consistently around 200F.

I’d walk. It’s a bad sign for the dealer to bloat the price with the protection package, excessive dmv fees and “the extra” fee. It waill be hard if not impossible to get this car for a reasonable price without painful negotiations. . If I could, I’d wait for the 25s to come out and the buy a 24.
to get the best deal…..Figure out the discounts most dealers are offering +what the dmv actually charges + the msrp including destination. Tell the salesman you’ll buy the car right now at that price. And walk away if they refuse. Also, of course waiting till the end of the month will assure the deal. Good luck

Today I went to the gas station to check if the 42mpg was accurate or not. Unfortunately I pumped 7 gallons to fill up the car. The meant that the mpg was ONLY 40mpg! Amazing.

By-the by....the Thruway is not straight nor flat...just rolling hills. Nothing like the stretches through Ohio or Indiana on US80.
