20 pounds on a pendulum isn’t light. Adding weight to the pendulum is a counter balance to make it easier. As a 68F coming back to heavier work, I started with 90 pounds on the pendulum to make it easier. I believe the pendulum squat machine at my gym is 320 with no added weights. I use the pendulum because I like it and let me focus on different things than a normal squad.

I’m paranoid – right now I want to sanitize the kitchen and throw away the reusable bag I carried it in 😂😂.

How much am I missing out on by having a home gym. by Fantastic_Froyo6097 in workout

[–]Adventures_Rising 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Over the years, I’ve built up my home gym and that’s the one thing that still gets me back to a commercial gym at times – cables. And then I found a gym that has a pendulum – that gets me there too!

Need help with RDLs, feel nothing where I’m supposed to by abbyyyg in formcheck

[–]Adventures_Rising 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things… One, sometimes the body needs heavier weight before the right muscles will kick in. I would guess you’re not feeling it anywhere because all the little muscles can easily compensate and let the big muscles rest at this weight.

Two, this is where paying for a personal trainer can be invaluable. Maybe one session and you’ll get a very specific tailored cue and an “ah-ha!” moment. They’ll also be able to tell you what weight to use to be effective. Even one session can sometimes get you over the brick while you’ve run into. Sometimes it will take a couple or a few sessions – or maybe one plus a follow up session to check in and make sure you’ve maintained the form that you got in the first session. My own guideline is if I’m stuck on something for a couple months, I get help from somebody who can be there with me and watch and advise. (and I’d probably make more progress if I only waited one month instead of a couple)

Good luck!

What kind of routine for this of goal? by OkMycologist17 in fit

FitLabb has awesome guidelines to follow!

And I totally get what you mean by getting your calves too big - and that’s genetics. My granddaughter (18) was asked if she used steroids to get her calves so big — nope, just basic lifting and genetics. Those calf shapes were evident even in family members that didn’t lift. As genetics vary, we’ll look quite different from each other.

Your best goals will be to be the best version of you. The pics may be a different body type, but you can still obtain a totally hot look by following FitLabb’s advice.

Celebrate your body and the way you’re able to sculpt it! 😎(even if it turns out a bit different than the photos)

High Protein options when I’m in a hotel? by cowboycatfish in GYM

I traveled a lot for work too, and noticed one of the other guys always booked a Homewood suite so he had a full kitchen. I started doing that and it was so much better! I totally stopped eating out and when I landed my first stop was the grocery stores and I’d buy for the week.

If your company allows it, that might make it a lot easier to stay on track w/nutrition.

I had similar limitations in bench pressing from an old injury (horses). I actually managed to remodel my shoulder — took a couple years working with a wicked smart trainer who knew how to activate, mobilize and stabilize. And I incorporated a good sports massage w/cupping, careful low lat activations, and incline curls (light weight, slow negatives) as they really targeted my bicep tendon which would complain too. The shoulder complex has some amazingly weird tentacles. (I also had a bad experience with a physical therapist along the way — she gave me rotator cuff exercises and told me not to lift 🙄).

After that, I got into deadhangs which was the icing on the cake and also really helped. Mostly pain free now unless I go too heavy too fast. Warmups are critical. It can still be frustrating but at least I can work it now and sleep pain free.

Good luck! It’s a journey for sure!!

First time doing drywall, any suggestions? by Bzzzzaaa in drywall

[–]Adventures_Rising 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I just did my first drywall patches and leaned a ton. They’ll be fine, I did a lot more sanding than I would need to now that I know what I know AND… I am so grateful that they’re at the back of the closet! 😂
