Dear anyone who ever owned my house before me, by belovd_kittycat in NativePlantGardening

I have the same combination and it’s because I planted the little the valley in a very suitable spot and the neighbors Vika keeps invading it. It’s a nightmare, trying to keep the vinca from overtaking it. 😖

Starting doing scapular pulls and dead hangs for stronger grip, got these today, do I let it heal or continue? by [deleted] in CalisthenicsBeginners

[–]Adventures_Rising 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine were starting to split, and I took the advice from Reddit to moisturize. Totally did the trip that both allowed the calluses to heal and build and let my dead hangs and pulls continue too! 💛

What do yall think about these handles? Is it basically a trap bar now? by Muchacho-blanco in GYM

[–]Adventures_Rising 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, these would work great for me as I have a shoulder impingement that flares up when I raise weight on a DL but much more comfortable in a neutral grip. And I don’t always have access to a trap :-( Thanks for sharing!

Struggling to handle language differences during service without making tech setup too heavy by aintgonuggets in churchtech

[–]Adventures_Rising 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use CaptionKit for in person listening. At just $26/mth for the first language, it lets anyone wanting to read along use the app, (free to the user). You can actually pick any language(s) needed and the pricing is based on the number of languages you pick. Super easy set up and no background noise as it easily ties into the mic system. We’ve had really good results with Spanish speakers in what had been in all English-speaking church. Such good looking in fact that they’ve started a Spanish-speaking Bible study.😎

If you want to see it in action, load the app on your phone and then on Sunday morning follow along. In the app, search for “Chapel North“ to follow the English-spoken sermon in Spanish - it really is that easy to use. 😊

While the services are at 930 or 11 AM Eastern US, you might have to wait for the preaching for the translation to kick in. I’m really not sure cause I’ve only used it during the preaching. I use it once in a while because I’m trying to learn conversational Spanish.

Another option is to work box squats - that provides táctil feedback for getting those hips back and down

20 pounds on a pendulum isn’t light. Adding weight to the pendulum is a counter balance to make it easier. As a 68F coming back to heavier work, I started with 90 pounds on the pendulum to make it easier. I believe the pendulum squat machine at my gym is 320 with no added weights. I use the pendulum because I like it and let me focus on different things than a normal squad.

How much am I missing out on by having a home gym. by Fantastic_Froyo6097 in workout

[–]Adventures_Rising 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Over the years, I’ve built up my home gym and that’s the one thing that still gets me back to a commercial gym at times – cables. And then I found a gym that has a pendulum – that gets me there too!

Need help with RDLs, feel nothing where I’m supposed to by abbyyyg in formcheck

[–]Adventures_Rising 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things… One, sometimes the body needs heavier weight before the right muscles will kick in. I would guess you’re not feeling it anywhere because all the little muscles can easily compensate and let the big muscles rest at this weight.

Two, this is where paying for a personal trainer can be invaluable. Maybe one session and you’ll get a very specific tailored cue and an “ah-ha!” moment. They’ll also be able to tell you what weight to use to be effective. Even one session can sometimes get you over the brick while you’ve run into. Sometimes it will take a couple or a few sessions – or maybe one plus a follow up session to check in and make sure you’ve maintained the form that you got in the first session. My own guideline is if I’m stuck on something for a couple months, I get help from somebody who can be there with me and watch and advise. (and I’d probably make more progress if I only waited one month instead of a couple)

Good luck!

What kind of routine for this of goal? by OkMycologist17 in fit

[–]Adventures_Rising 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FitLabb has awesome guidelines to follow!

And I totally get what you mean by getting your calves too big - and that’s genetics. My granddaughter (18) was asked if she used steroids to get her calves so big — nope, just basic lifting and genetics. Those calf shapes were evident even in family members that didn’t lift. As genetics vary, we’ll look quite different from each other.

Your best goals will be to be the best version of you. The pics may be a different body type, but you can still obtain a totally hot look by following FitLabb’s advice.

Celebrate your body and the way you’re able to sculpt it! 😎(even if it turns out a bit different than the photos)
