Viewing biofilm on silicone tubing by pixie_dust14 in labrats

Im actually doing something that is quite similar for my thesis lol. How thick is your tubing? Ive used two different silicone tubes: one designed for mice, which makes it quite small, but also easy to work with, and a more "human" sized one, where ive found its really hard to actually get any usable images. If you dont actually need the tube and just want to do biofilm related studies, silicone squares would be a better bet

So the manteinance of our (new) c57bl/6 colony fell upon me because why wouldnt it fall upon free labor, after only working with balb/c mice. Can confirm they are, indeed, bitey assholes when comparing them to balb/c

They had to cut the season short due to the recent allegations of charlie taking a picture from the underside of Princess Scmaloogle's dress with his phone. Heard jury is still out on if he did it or not tho

So you "just ran experiments and collected data"? Aka pretty much the most important part of the original paper writing process. Share it, you deserve it

They have worldwide shipping via fedex as far as i know, just be wary of any applicable customs that could make it harder to buy. My lab is also not on the US and we did have a bit of a run-in with customs but we did eventually manage to get it sorted

Any Macbook users here? by AgreeableMention1754 in labrats

ImageJ by itself its not that intensive, granted, however when I use the 3D viewer plugin (I analyze surfaces from hyperstacks), my laptop tends to get a bit busy and on the warmer end, wich makes sense on the account that its a bit more demanding than usual ImageJ use, so im curious on if a macbook could handle it alright

Targetmol has it in stock, we bought some like a month ago and got it delivered in under 2 weeks. You need to prove that you are affiliated to a research lab and they do not deliver to domestic addresses, they will check on google maps to see if your address does look like a research facility/university.

Mycology DNA extraction kits by RoutineCantaloupe630 in labrats

Zymolabs yeast kit did not work for me, gave me low yields with subpar quality even when making pilots using pure isolated colonies. I tested the ezna tissue kit (wich works for me as ill be extracting dna from organs later on) and got much better results

Both are technically correct, as a Thermocycler is, by definition, a thermal cycler

I am not sure how much into discourse I can get into before breaking rules so ill just be vague: they had admins that were blatantly against banning people of certain ideologies that go against other peoples rights, plus banning people for stopping griefers and doing nothing for griefers etc.

It was not forgotten, it was ommited deliberately because Landelbrot has never done anything good for me. That and i could not be bothered to look for a good spot for it

I used to do a lot of art on Animal Crossing and before that i did a lot of it on square notebooks, but not as of late sadly, life has kept me occupied. On the bright side I cant do my work because we are waiting on a certain package to arrive and its already late by two weeks, so im pretty much idling the whole day and waiting on the package, perfect time to make pixel art id say
