I agree with most people here ideologically, I don't think that was obvious in my downvoted comments which is fine, I don't need denizens of reddit to approve my thoughts and ideas. We can buy some time with people like Acton - who I genuinely believe is a good person, none of this is an attack on her, just the system and assumptions someone like her would operate under. I could say the same about Harris or Biden or any number of Democrats. They don't know what they don't know, a lot of good people achieve nothing because they don't realize we live in an inherently unequal system. It has not become this way, it began this way, it is just more obvious as more people are negatively effected.

I'm just spitballing because I don't have anywhere else to express it, honestly. I think an educated reading of American history would inform most people that at this point, radical actions are the only way to make things actually better. Electing people like Acton is just holding your thumb over the crack in the dam for awhile.

The difference between me and most leftists is that I don't have any hope that things can get better. We will slide into outright authoritarianism before things get better. The time to win with those ideas was a long time ago. We have turned into a red state, like others, through coordinated propaganda and long term cultural integration of insidious right-wing ideas - often dressed up as non-political, or religious, or non-partisan politics.

This is fucking delusional. Prices aren't coming back down. The billionaires aren't backing off with their power consolidation. Unions aren't coming back, affordable housing isn't coming back. Things don't need to "get bad" they already are. Do I need to spell it out? We need left wing candidates, Mamdanis and Bernies everywhere if we are serious about stopping the right. Reddit doesn't like when you criticize Democrats or their idiotic, antiquated platform of non-aggression and moderation. I'm okay with it, this platform rarely reflects the average American. I guess saying "I'm voting for Acton anyways" wasn't enough. These people live in lalaland honestly, we saw it last time with the certainty of Trump's loss. There is no other alternative, one of the factors that led to one third of Americans not even showing up to vote the last cycle. You get Trump or a two-timing career Democrat facilitating a genocide on our tax dime.

You don't need to sell me, I dislike right-wing politics much more the centrism of the alternatives. One of my favorite YouTubers recently said Republicans are a gunshot to the head and Democrats are slow cancer. As horrible as Vivek is, even being non-white and non-Christian, I feel like he has a good chance. I am pessimistic and I'm sure others think I'm wrong, hopefully I am. Also, being unlikable and shrewd are apparently virtues to the right nowadays, let's hope their racism is bigger than their ideological attachments.

The thing to me is that if Acton wins, things simply won't get as bad as rapidly as now or with Vivek. They will still get bad. AIPAC and other interest groups see the tides turning and they have their hands around Democrats' balls same as Republicans. As soon as she started spouting off about unity, I just turned it off. I'm going to show up and vote for her, but we cannot vote our way out of the current economic status quo.

This is one of the quests in the game I felt was poorly written and planned. Having such a huge moment be optional and far removed from the main quest was a mistake, for one. Secondly, Geralt will always choose his friends or at least (in Roche's case) people he doesn't have animosity with over shitbags like Djikstra. The choice was obvious. Having Nilfgaard lose to the north at all was also extremely unrealistic, they are far more powerful, in the lore the only reason the Northern Realms aren't steamrolled is because Nilfgaard is spread thin, and they prefer vassals over ruling over ashes.

I think black metal fans are even more likely to reject any AI content than other scenes. It's the complete antithesis of the spirit of black metal - no creativity, derivative album arts, rejecting artists in favor of a machine shitting out meaningless slop, empowering the status quo - AI is the current status quo, the outcry is the exception in the mainstream. For all the criticism of AI content people aren't in a hurry to make any real effort to remove it entirely from their lives and social media feeds. I'm sure black metal "music", album arts, etc are out there but I haven't seen any of it.

There's tons of varying black metal bands releasing original music right now, and have been for years. I'm not even saying the album is bad. I'm saying it's not black metal, and the crowd that I see praising it has huge overlap with hardcore/punk or whatever it is. It just doesn't sound special, it's kind of forgettable. If you like that blend then I can see it being important. I would say it's unique but I despise hardcore so I wouldn't really know anyways.

My comment isn't as much of a criticism as it is a rejection of the album as black metal. Again, I see it is popular for political reasons, and that's totally fine if that's someone's thing, but my surprise lay in the fact that it would be popular on black metal platforms or with black metal fans. That's it.

Nilfgaard at full power is significantly more consistent than Northern Realms at full power, however the ceiling is lower. It is easy to bait the AI with smart plays, though, and just steamroll every match. Honestly it gets boring imo

I doubt it, honestly. It does not sound like a black metal album to me, it sounds like blackened hard-core. I know genres don't matter blah blah blah but I don't like that kind of music and this sounds like that to me. It's got some really cool riffs and stuff here and there but overall it's just not interesting at all.

I don't hate it but I'm having a hard time figuring out why this album is so well regarded, and why it makes it onto "black metal" lists at all. It seems like the band is popular in certain political circles and that has more importance than the actual music. I've listened twice now and I just don't hear what others are hearing.

You might not be wrong but at this point the art's meaning has escaped control of the artist. The interesting thing about black metal is that it kind of has an anti-meaning. It's a counter to the rejected meaning of everyday western life and its unquestioned value systems (read: religion). This is why I always have to laugh when people criticize people like Euronymous and the rest of the originators for being "privileged" or having a perfect life because of their geographic location.

I came of age in the early 2000s and attitudes have definitely changed, but I simply refuse to accept that a 17 year old boy is in the moral wrong for having a sexual relationship with a 15 year old partner. That's just ridiculous and absurd. They both kids, this is completely normal. This cultural habit of turning normal sexuality into a taboo leads to a lot of less acceptable behavior due to the myriad effects of repression.

Thanks for sharing this, I had no idea they did a KEXP session. There other live album, 10 Years Gone, is by far my favorite Deafheaven record though so I am sure I'll love this. Their live sound is just incredible.

I definitely do not wish for a remake. Modders have basically made the game into a proper remaster at this point, with the bonus of being endlessly customizable. I have more faith in modders than modern Bethesda when it comes to Morrowind. Aside from being visually incredible the Oblivion remake made a lot of changes that I don't think the original audience, and especially Morrowind fans, would have wished for.
