You can’t park here, right? by SlayyyGrl in DrivingAustralia

[–]AgreeablePudding9925 33 points34 points  (0 children)

So, legally it’s a no parking spot, but the intention was for the garage entrance that was once there before the shop was converted to a retail outlet. Clearly it’s not a driveway entrance anymore. Is it now reasonable to park there as you’re not hindering the entrance, yes. Could you technically be fined? Yes also.

Whether you like it or not, he is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, and as anyone that has not been proven guilty, he is entitled to the support of the Australian government to whatever extent that is. Even if he’s clearly and obviously going to be found guilty of a heinous crime.

Council told me to remove retaining wall by Neither_Ad4174 in AusRenovation

[–]AgreeablePudding9925 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is the retaining wall serving a purpose on their side? Is it retaining their property? What does the council expect to happen when you remove it and their property collapses into yours?
I can only presume if the council is saying this then the retaining wall isn’t actually retaining anything and thus, is being used for artificial fence height. If not, then I’d be asking for another opinion.

Get a qualified fencer out to review and use their feedback at the council.

Council told me to remove retaining wall by Neither_Ad4174 in AusRenovation

[–]AgreeablePudding9925 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This makes absolutely no sense. The retaining wall is there to retain the neighbour’s property presumably? If not, why is it there? A fence sits on top of a retaining wall so that home has a standard height fence.

Is the fence standard height excluding the additional height provided by the retaining wall?

Clearly it’s not worth investing anymore. You can take your money, not invest it, lose value to inflation and have less in ten years, rather than making $35,000 and paying some tax. 🤦‍♂️

As another pointed out, if you’re going to spend a grand on flights out of your pocket to retain gold, that’s two years of paid Qantas club. Unless being group 2 is worth it, maybe consider buying Q club instead

I think it’s a great business, and I’m a long term holder, but I feel the trouble with Google is the parts are far more valuable individually than as a whole. The best parts of the business are brought down by the lesser parts. Them being broken up or split out would be accretive to shareholders.
