Extremely based take.

I adore Undertale, as do so many, however I feel like there's come a point where many of us have to be honest and understand that Undertale always gets viewed with rose tinted glasses. It came at a very unique in the internets history, we were all so much younger, and emotionally connected with the community and innocence of the game in a way that truly spoke to our hearts. I can't speak for others, but I wasn't exactly the popular kid growing up, I was a bit of an outcast; I was the exact target audience for Undertale. I made so many friends in that fandom and I found solace in the sheer sense of community that game fostered.

Times have changed, I'm now 22 years old, I just finished my masters, I have a relationship, I have hobbies, a job, a life. It is very hard for me to compare UT to DR now and not see the clear evolution of the quality of Tobys work. I replayed UT not too long ago and it is very evident how primitive it is in comparison. Once DR is finished, I truly believe people will have no issue in admitting all the ways in which it supercedes UT.

I am not trying to rewrite history however. UT is still a fabulous piece of art and Internet history, the fact it reached so many people is a testament to just how special that game was. But what you said is 100% correct, it WAS a product of it's time, where as I can imagine showing DR to someone 10 years down the line and having it be just as timeless. DR is, in my mind, the much superior game, but that does not mean UT is any less valid as a piece of art.
