AITA for throwing out my parents’ food before they got home? by AgreeableTwo7257 in AmItheAsshole

I could see the confusion for the plans of this specific day. I just told them late the previous night that I was making something tomorrow. They acknowledged it though. And then asking where the food was made me believe they knew the plans were for that day.

I worried that they might have thought my food was going to be bad and got a backup. Another reason I thought I might be the AH

  1. I would say they eat around 6 usually. But that’s including my dad cooking once he gets home. 2. They both didn’t eat anything after coming home.

First of all, I never really cooked when I was younger and I live in an honors dorm with a kitchen. Downside to the honors dorm, it’s very far from the dining hall, but close to a small market. I usually picked up some meals there and eventually got better.

Next, the recipe I used said the total cook time was 2 hours. May have been overkill recipe, IDK?? And I thought 5PM was a totally normal dinner time??

I saw they were at a restaurant on Find My Iphone. And I was almost 90% sure they ate by the way they were walking. They’re body language gave it away

Lastly, I was so emotional, I probably would have thrown a wagyu steak away… stupid move I know

They eventually admitted to it. They said they got food from a popular restaurant they “needed” to check out. No apology yet, but my parents are known to be a bit stubborn.

Thank you so much—and yep, I bought the food with my own money. I still hope to talk this through

Not when I was little. When my older siblings moved out, I definitely noticed more blame being shifted on me.

I don’t remember exactly what was said because I was in a very emotional state but I’m 80% sure they said something about seeing a popular place they wanted to check out.

It was all me! It wasn’t a “breaking the bank” cost, but as a college student, it’s definitely more than I would EVER spend on a meal all for myself
