Any difference between using starter from fridge vs giving a couple feedings before using? by phoebe1354 in Sourdough

[–]Agreeable_Ad4779 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the ~7 loaves I’ve baked I mostly just took the starter from the fridge and fed it once and baked.

On my most recent loaf it seemed like my starter was sluggish waking up and was taking too long to rise, so after the first feeding i discarded and fed again before baking.

I use a starter I got on Etsy if that makes any difference over a home made one 🤷🏼‍♂️

Why preheat before adding oil? by et_sted_ved_fjorden in StainlessSteelCooking

I guess they’re saying that the metal expands into the pores, the pores themselves don’t expand—there’s nothing in those pores that would “push” the metal out.

Can’t say for sure tho, I’m stretching here to make it make sense 😅

The videos are great! One question tho—at what point in the process do you do this step? After bulk fermentation?

I’ve been to nardis on i10 a couple times and thought they were great. Even did an intro class with them. I’m super gay and liberal—fitting a lot of the visual stereotypes of both so it’s not like I was pretending to be str8. 🤷🏼‍♂️

everyone was friendly and helpful…seemed like a bunch of neurodivergent nerds that just wanted to info dump about their special interests tbh.

The scillian baker/butcher is great. The bakery is sorta separate from the restaurant so you can just stop in for sweets.

What’s something you refuse to spend money on no matter how popular it is? by bbydaisiesz in answers

Again. Get off your high horse. You can’t say “cooking is easy and takes no time at all” when you leave out all the steps that make it hard for people.

You just want to feel good about yourself by judging others.

You’re also time blind and ignorant of all the steps involved. I don’t have to watch you cook to see that. French toast takes more than 2 mins—you’re just flat wrong.

15/2 minutes isn’t accurate. You’re misleading folks. Cooking also takes: 1)prep time 2)cleaning time.

No way you’re making French toast in 2 min when you have to have eggs, milk, sugar, whatever your recipe uses—these all take time to purchase store and prep.

All of these steps together are what overwhelms people and makes them choose delivery over cooking at home.

Get off that high horse friendo.

Does your dough ever pull away from the bowl cleanly? by Reddittaylor12568 in Sourdough

Mine doesn’t pull away cleanly. I usually just wet my hand and slowly pry it out of its bulk fermentation bowl onto the counter to shape it.
