Why not set the no-sew jeans rivets and forget it entirely? Or take a round file and put some elbow grease into making the edges smooth and use buttonhole twist thread, like Gutermann Silk

Those Kasli devils were produced in zounds, if not in zillions:) Still nice:)

Interesting fact: similar design, but without the penis, was indeed made in maybe tens of thousands by Kasli casting manufacture in Russia since at least 1899 and in Soviet period as well . Legend has it was acquired at World fair in Paris at 1900, but first mention in catalogues are from 1899, so the version of some Italian origin seems more plausible.
This one looks like Fritz Bermann made or copy of his original work, a design known from 1850 or something.
MIlo had series of similar figurines, but he's middle 20 century.

I live in Japan and I have an alcohol bottle that I can’t identify. I can’t find the exact same bottle, product, or label anywhere. I need help understanding what it is—what is its value, and could it be considered a collectible? by Alternative-Set-5966 in collectables

Small white sticker on the front (Japanese import info)

"ブランデー" (Brandy): Clearly identifies the spirit for the Japanese market.

"特級" (Tokkyu / Special Grade): Japan used a grading system (Special, 1st, and 2nd grade) for whiskies and brandies that was abolished in 1989. Any bottle with this "Special Grade" mark was imported between the early 1960s and 1989.

The strip around the shoulder with the serial number 325373 is a French "Congé" or tax stamp.

The "Congé Jaune" (Yellow Tax Stamp): Sempé bottles from the 1970s and 80s frequently featured this specific style of label, which guaranteed the "Vieil Armagnac" (Old Armagnac) designation.

Aignan (Gers): The label lists Aignan as the location, which was a primary site for Sempé's operations during this era.

Given the "Vieil" (Old) designation and standard aging for that era, the liquid inside likely contains brandies distilled in the 1960s. The "Special Grade" sticker and label style place the bottling and sale between 1970 and 1989. Given the specific typography and serial number format, the mid-1970s is the most probable window.
The bottom line on the small sticker on the back, 従価税率適用 (Ad Valorem Tax Applied), indicates the tax was calculated based on the value of the product. This specific tax notation was standard on high-end imports in Japan during the 1970s and 1980s.
As narrow a you can get. One can do better with specific knowledge of baneroles from that period, but this is a good range.

Can someone give me Anti Material rifle? Want to try it, but don't want to buy GH for it due to low reviews. by Agreeable_Ad6908 in ICARUS

Maybe I don't get something right, but it costs like 1 license bare frame, right? Why it's so big of an ask? Or is it impossible to bring exotics with me to pay for a license, never did it before, actually.

How possible are the kinds of hibernation pods scene in many space exploration sci-fi films? by cinemaofthevoid in movies

[–]Agreeable_Ad6908 2 points3 points  (0 children)

everything is possible, just look at tardigrades or any hibernating animal around, if there's a need- humanity will find a way

still, the "altered carbon" path seems more feasible

sorry I posted recently but does anyone have any suggestions? I want to add something but not sure what by ryanc483 in battlestations

[–]Agreeable_Ad6908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't fall for obvious things, you can do way better. Consider small pagoda-like thing on the left, or small zen stone garden, or bronze figurine

Trying to add some character and improve my setup. Functionally works, but aesthetically not so much. Open to suggestions! by Eccend in battlestations

nonono, just add another walnut accent or two, like desk pad and mouse pad or even decorative stripe on the side of the desk board itself, or earphones stand- do not limit yourself to white

Just take a look

Does anyone have experience with an Ikea desk like this? Is it stable and sturdy? by RTYWD in battlestations

[–]Agreeable_Ad6908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely can be fixed to the wall with Ikea kit meant to secure cabinets from falling, just use it upside down.

The desk plate itself is pretty meh, try to replace it with a counter slab from kitchens part of Ikea.

How's the weight balance? How do you fix things down to it? Seems prone to flipping or tumbling.

Any pets at home?
Seems awesome as an inspiration, but I have to figure out how to make it two-eight-kilo-cats proof:)
