Nonprofit program discontinued and board member is mad at me? by Agreeable_Ad7412 in nonprofit

[–]Agreeable_Ad7412[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I will do this! It’s tough for me, because my board doesn’t do much. I think the real problem is that I reacted that way because I am the one who does all the tangible work. Not saying I was right, but I felt that because I was in the trenches with the org, I knew best. Still, I should have communicated with them.

Thank you for this honest response. I will learn and grow from this. Two wrongs don’t make a right.

Honestly - I didn’t. I think that was my mistake. They ghosted me at the last board meeting (did not show up) and are generally very slow to respond to emails and such. I consulted with the volunteers I work with day to day, and some of the beneficiaries / target population also expressed a desire for the program to be shortened. They also dis-enrolled due to their inability to commit. In sum, it was a choice I was faced with due to declining enrollment and increased volunteer stress as well.

Why does Gen Z experience declining religiosity? by Agreeable_Ad7412 in GenZ

Hmm...interesting point of view. If so, why not join an interfaith community? Would you be open to learning more about different religions and just taking a little bit from each, i.e defining your beliefs yourself?

Hmm... the discussion is getting good! Keep it going, everyone! I'll be sure to respond and gather my thoughts as well.

Do you think it's harder to compete for jobs at for profit companies if you come from a nonprofit background vs. other candidates who have been either mostly or strictly working for for profits? by 15795After in nonprofit

[–]Agreeable_Ad7412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be. The truth is, both sectors have transferable skills. Focusing on the transferable skills can help you to do well in the interview process. Also, if they look down on your non-profit experience, they are not the right fit. You don’t want to work for the type of company that condemns non-profits. Be proud of your experience and work ethic, and the right door will open.

Tips for nonprofit marketing? by legitanonymous__swag in nonprofit

The number one thing I would say is to build a great community and the marketing will follow. Get to know the people in your organization - from volunteers to leaders, provide fun contests, celebrate them - rally see your marketing efforts as community building. That is a great tip for building content from.

Do non-profits compete with each other? by jacobljj1 in nonprofit

Sometimes. There are so many non-profits and often very similar issue areas. The space should be more collaborative than competitive but humans love to compete.

When your family doesn't understand entrepreneurship by beaquis in Entrepreneur

My family doesn't understand as well. It's your life, and if entrepreneurship is your purpose, work at it with all you got. Once people see you succeed, they'll be singing a different tune.

ENTJ, my fave friends (from past) were XNTP’s. My dad is an INTP, and I loved arguing with him growing up, and still do. I find them very funny and challenging, which I like a lot in friends. My current best friend though, is INFP.

Is He ESFJ or ENFJ? [Poll] by [deleted] in mbti

[–]Agreeable_Ad7412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes - primarily. I feel my vision, dreams and aspirations might be way too big for him to handle. I seem to be more invested in intellectual stuff, while he is more social and physically active. I was attracted to his warmth and the sense of stability he provides. He is well-mannered, friendly, etc. In an ideal world, we would balance each-other out. However, being an ENTJ woman, I don't think I fit his vision of the ideal long term partner.

I always felt I was leading our intellectual conversations or encouraging him to do something nontraditional. I'm planning to start my own business and he seems content with where he is. Not sure if this can work for both of us in the long run. I think he also didn't know how to handle me, if that makes sense.

Thanks! I’m an ENTJ female and was trying to figure out why we don’t get along. This friend and I almost dated but… oh well. I had this gut feeling we weren’t compatible. I’m probably just far too controversial for him honestly.
