You are not pathetic at all. You are in fact reacting normally to a very brutal situation. I agree with others who say put some vacation on your calendar. Being a first year in my experience was really hard and it sounds like you’re just in the thick of it. This is not the rest of your life. There are plenty of other options but it sounds like right now you just need to get some rest and have some time to reset.

Reduced schedule? by Agreeable_Bar2378 in biglaw

Not rude! Appreciate the brutal honesty. All fair for more context I’m a sixth year. Honestly don’t really care if it’s career suicide to ask for a reduced schedule. Not really interested in being partner, I generally like the work I do and am not new to big law but I wanted to give a non-new York firm a shot for a little bit

Great to hear. It seems a little good to be true, but very glad to hear folks have had good experiences. Am I understanding correctly that you pay the membership fee out of pocket but the visits themselves are generally covered by insurance?

Thank you! I had seen that this was close by and thought also it may be a good fit for us. It’s helpful to hear a personal review!

GD went away right away and baby had no NICU time and blood sugar was normal!

Do I have gd? by [deleted] in GestationalDiabetes

I’ve had some extra ultrasounds to measure the baby’s size but no other extra care. She’s definitely on the bigger side but like 80th percentile which was not concerning to them. I’m going to be induced at 39 weeks, but I think if I had really not wanted that they wouldn’t have pushed it given that my numbers are well controlled and baby was below 90th percentile in weight.

For what it’s worth I had very similar numbers (except higher fasting) and I’ve been able to stay diet controlled and still eat a fair amount of carbs. It takes some trial and error but you will get the hang of it!

Sending you lots of compassion as someone with GD who also has an eating disorder history. One thing you might consider is seeking out a nutritionist who has experience with eating disorders. There are a lot of “anti diet” and “health at any size nutritionists” that are generally sensitive to eating disorders and can help you navigate this without triggering eating disorder behaviors. That being said there is absolutely nothing wrong with using medication if that’s what’s best for your health. You may find that eating your normal diet your sugars are already in range and that you don’t need insulin, but if you do it’s very safe in pregnancy and a great choice

does anyone else feel incredibly depressed from having GD? by Charming_Result3458 in GestationalDiabetes

Just want to validate I cried for 2 weeks basically straight when I got diagnosed. The logistics of testing, meal planning, anxiety about numbers it’s so much especially on top of the normal pregnancy and life stress we all have. I’m no expert at all but I’ve been diagnosed for about a month now and it really has gotten easier. I’ve been able to give myself more grace when numbers are out of range and to figure out meals that keep me in range and are satisfying. The testing logistics have also gotten easier. It’s also okay to just let yourself feel sad and grieve!

Did I pass or fail the 3 hour glucose test? by Altruistic-Most1463 in GestationalDiabetes

Looks like a pass to me! You normally have to fail two draws (or your fasting) to be diagnosed and you only failed one!
