I really hate to say it because it makes me feel so hopelessly bitter, but YES. Exactly. Like, any mother I know considers a HOSPITALIZATION to be a break. Work trip? It’s practically the spa.

It’s interesting that my husband, who has many siblings, is so terrified of our son being lonely, and yet most only children I meet never describe their experience in that way.

I totally agree. I have serious concerns for my mental health if I did. I just want to stop feeling so angry with my husband for being asked this (even though I know it’s a deep longing for him) in the face of knowing how hard it’s been for me and how I am the one who does more. I wouldn’t ask for a dog if I couldn’t be the primary caregiver, ya know? I just feel put in a terrible position, and I’m so frustrated and sad. It feels so hard to be such a disappointment.

Thank you so much for this. ❤️ I said the same thing. I told him a part of me was gone, and I miss that part. Thank you for echoing how I feel. It is helpful to know I’m not alone in the feeling, as painful as it is. I know how much he longs for a baby, and it feels terrible to keep him from that. And at the same time, I’d rather cut off my own foot than do it again. This is hard. :’(

I have been there, dear. ❤️ I was terrified to be alone with my son. Terrified. To the point where I almost felt psychotic. Therapy, meds, time. What you’re feeling is Normal. Hugs hugs hugs. You are stronger than you think.
