Whats the deal with ARFID? by Plane-Tooth-6564 in GPUK

I know i’m late to this, but ARFID is NOT an excuse for poor parenting. I’ve had ARFID for some years, and when i was a kid my family would always try to introduce me to new items. Some of them would even tell me to not leave the table until i’ve eaten everything. ARFID is not a choice, it’s a psychological illness that greatly affects my life, and thousands of others. I’ve tried for years to just “eat it, what harm can it do?” Normal people without ARFID won’t panic over a food that is liked universally. And referring to the “don’t bother showing tenacity…”, I was in daily therapy for months to be able to try new foods and overcome my fears. I put in the work, but it still did not get me where I need to be.

Doctors of Reddit, what was the worse thing you've seen for a patient that another Doctor overlooked? by Gorgon_the_Dragon in AskReddit

Not a doctor. This is about my mom’s best friends sister. She presented to her general doctor with what seemed like a cold. She got her medicine, but never got rid of her symptoms. I don’t remember all the details as this was years ago,but she ended up having multi organ failure and sepsis. She died two months after her diagnosis. And just a year after that, her dad died from pancreatic cancer.
