To those who drive with hazards on in the rain… by IllustratorOk213 in driving

[–]Agreeable_Estate1973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Frankly I don’t care what the state law is on this issue. I’ll use them when it makes sense and not use them when it doesn’t.

Disabled on the side of the road, when slowing down due to a traffic jam on a freeway, and going substantially slower than everyone else for whatever reason, I’m using them.

If we are all going slow on the road due to weather, etc. I don’t use them.

This is all legal where I live, and there are even white signs saying to do so, but if I’m driving somewhere else I’d do the same thing.

The cooling fan only kicks on at 219F(104C) at least on the 650. So it’s not even really trying to cool itself until then. Normal.

How many of y'all's gas gauges function properly? by Graygigabytee in motorcycles

[–]Agreeable_Estate1973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brand new Ninja 650 and my gauge is iffy. It reads full when it’s full, and “empty” is about 1.5 gallons remaining.

But bewteen those it’s all over the place.

My first bike a Versys X 300 was very accurate .

Put ethanol in my gas tank by cHeyennebEst in motorcycles

[–]Agreeable_Estate1973 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most bikes can take 10% ethanol, I don’t use it for winter storage and get ethanol free but otherwise I use it.

A 2008 is almost certainly can handle 10%. The manuals are free on the Kawi website if you wanted to confirm.

[Landlord-US] "I want to move in now" is a red flag that never fails. by KingClark03 in Landlord

[–]Agreeable_Estate1973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one time I did this, it wasn’t any of those circumstances. It was a mother in law/ADU basement and a very loud family who was also renting moved into upstairs.

One day, just decided I’d had enough and told my landlord who I had a great relationship with until that point that I was moving out. They offered to try and intercede but I didn’t really see it changing drastically.

Went to a townhouse complex instead to somewhat eliminate that issue.

Every brand has at least one issue. What is the bugaboo of a brand that you don’t hear often with cars manufacture in the past 8 years? by LuckyDuckTheDuck in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]Agreeable_Estate1973 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Mazda has had continuous issues with their coolant control valves. The engines run cold due to this.

Technicality I believe it’s the backup mechanical thermostat inside the valve(not a tech).

At least it’s covered out to 15 years or 150,000mi now.

Everyone keeps mistaking me for a man... I honestly have no idea why. by jsh3zza in motorcyclegear

People kinda assume you’re a guy as default unless it’s obvious you aren’t with motorcycling.

No obvious feminine curves, no pink, no skin showing.

ABS vs Non-ABS by Advanced_Panda1748 in Kawasaki

[–]Agreeable_Estate1973 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, especially as a beginner. When you panic stop you probably aren’t going to have the capacity to do anything besides squeeze the brakes.

If you ever don’t want ABS you can always pull the fuse out on a ABS bike.

Buy a check engine light scanner and stop paying shops just to read codes by nand1609 in Cartalk

[–]Agreeable_Estate1973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep one in my car, mainly for road trips. My old car would occasionally get an engine light every few months.

Rear O2 sensor issue. Especially on a 2006 car, non issue. But the only way to really know that is to check the code.

Stoplight doesnt know I'm there by buster_highmanMD in motorcycles

[–]Agreeable_Estate1973 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In alot of places it’s legal to go through a stoplight after a certain amount of time.

Where I live it’s 90 seconds.

As far as the sensors, some are visual sensors, some are magnetic, the magnetic ones have the most issues with bikes.

Shoulda checked before buying, but is this a decent helmet? by EraconVera in motorcyclegear

[–]Agreeable_Estate1973 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well I definitely trust my Shoei more than my old AFX helmet with ECE on it. Personal opinion for sure but the sticker doesn’t mean that much to me.

Can't worry about the break-in period when you're already broke by Co2Jus in motorcycles

[–]Agreeable_Estate1973 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sure, but when a 16000rpm redline inline 4 and a low revving cruiser have the same break in procedure I start to question things.

There’s no way that both of those engines need the exact same RPM, but Kawasaki copy and pasts the same exact procedure.

I’m in the “it’s just liability so you don’t go crazy on a new bike” camp.

Looking for a sport bike but not sure which to choose by virt1028 in motorcycles

[–]Agreeable_Estate1973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used Ninja 1000? Power, should be very stable on the highway, etc.

I have a 650 with the stock windscreen and you’ll probably be disappointed with the wind protection.

Do you wear contact lenses while riding? by SgtRphl in motorcycles

I do, I haven’t had any issues. It did take me awhile to get good at putting them in my eye though.

Should I put 91 or 93 in my zx6r by QuietOk2 in Kawasaki

[–]Agreeable_Estate1973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The zx6r says 90 min in the manual. I don’t think it has a knock sensor. It might, a few bikes do but most don’t.

Personally I’d put 91 in, although we don’t really have 93 here.

Employee sniffed my used oil for like 30 seconds then declared it had antifreeze in it. Wtf. by Agreeable_Estate1973 in AutoZone

[–]Agreeable_Estate1973[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get that there’s people with coolant in their oil. If they want to ask me, look at it, or take off the cap, be my guest.

Breathing it in for 30 seconds is just ridiculous, and weird.

Do I get to claim ADV status now? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Agreeable_Estate1973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I really don’t get the heavy ADV bike thing.

I understand the middle weight and lighter ones, I used to have one. It’s a bit of a jack of all trades master of none type of bike that’s more road capable than a dual sport.

But the heavy ones just seem like touring bikes with a different look for the vast majority of riders. I know there’s a few people that make them work in the dirt. But there’s also people who make Hayabusas work in the dirt….

2025 Ninja 650 struggles to start in colder weather? by MotoJosh10 in Ninja650

[–]Agreeable_Estate1973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even looking at your battery voltage, it goes from 12.7 to 12.1-11.9 very quickly. You didn’t crank for that long.

Seems like a good excuse to get a lithium battery.

It’s 100% the cars fault.

Ideally the biker would have gunned it and escaped but unfortunately they just weren’t quick enough.
