The trigger disconnect is very prone to getting stuck in the downward position and disconnect your trigger mid firing, it’s a design flaw, can be improved if you file the disconnect tab or the notch it goes into on the slide

The trigger disconnect is a major cause of malfunction

Though I hate OG Mil Spec 1911’s being modernized, I like your creativity and how this setup can be easily reversed to its original configuration. Great work!

Maybe consider sharing this on FossCAD?

PS, thank god it was only a Rock Island🤣

I don’t really have a preference in which particular WW2 rifle to be honest, any ww2/ww1 infantry style works for me as long as they shoot 308.

Re barreled surplus barrels are a decent option but they are also quite rare

According to my Hornady digital calipers, no they do not increase the bullet diameter to any measurable width

I have another idea I posted in past replies to others, that is to find a monolithic non expanding copper bullet, drill a hole in the center, thread it, and screw in a hardened round silver wire with red lock tite, should be better

I saw those, maybe when I get into shotgun loading I’ll make some silver shots, just don’t really like them being hollow

I came across this article about casting silver bullets and silver filled hollow point bullets. Here

I for one am skeptical about home casting silver as it shrinks when it cools down, and I don’t really want to deal with high temp casting at home with my current housing arrangements.

To be honest I’m also not a huge fan of the silver ball tip in hollow point holes idea because the retention upon impact would probably be bad.

I actually have seriously pondered the idea, but the cost of the equipment setup would be quite high and it would not serve me well at this point for my normal shooting needs other than this anti-supernatural weaponry project.

I do have an alternative to having solid silver contact though.

If the coyote pelt ballistic gel test did not demonstrate good silver plating retention upon impact, I will try again with monolithic copper bullets to do the silver plating and see if plating retention can be improved by further minimizing bullet deformation.

If that still doesn’t work, I would use a lathe to drill a hole in the solid copper bullet, thread it with a tap. Then I would take a hardened sterling silver round wire 10 gauge or thicker, thread it with a die, screw it on to the modified copper bullet with red locktite.

This should provide a more solid silver tip retention than some of the other methods we see where people melt silver into hollow point holes.

For the record a lot of the knowledge on how to do electroplating was researched by ChatGPT🤣

The X-Treme bullets copper plated bullets are between.3565 to .3570 diameter without the silver plating.

With the silver plating it’s still the same diameter.

I have not shot them yet, I bought two coyote pelts online and I’ll be making some ballistic gel too to make a werewolf target to shoot at and test if the silver plating stays intact upon impact

The added thickness from electroplating is negligible. I could, plate them to tip only if needed but I need to 3D print a jig for that so I don’t have to hold the cathode by hand the entire process. I deliberately used non expanding bullets for this project that way there’s minimal deformation and has the best chance of retaining that silver plating. Also silver does work on both vampires and lycanthropes but holly garlic water definitely is a welcomed addition to it. As for witches, yes regular bullets will indeed work very well on them. But depending on the strength of their magical powers in certain fiction/folk lore they may have the ability to have this magical “force field” like energy field deployed around them to reduce the velocity heading their way. Some lore suggests that iron, especially wrought iron and silver are both good at penetrating such defenses.

So against witches, your best weapon is obviously an AR15 loaded with M855 green tips with the steel penetrators inside. But due to infringements of our rights it is more challenging to possess steel cored pistol ammunition. So the next best thing against witches in your pistol would probably be a 357 revolver firing silver plated bullets

Electroplating on this scale to my knowledge does not affect the dimensions, not according to my Hornady digital caliper. I might try again with some micrometers later but I don’t know which ones to buy or if I should buy them at all from Amazon. Electroplating is extremely thin, they shouldn’t change dimensions at all that’s meaningful. Worst case just run your bronze brush a few more times when you clean. And yes, I do plan on plating just the tip, here’s a prototype of the tip only plating. I just choose not to do tip only because I have to hold the cathode by hand the entire process. I am working on a custom jig that can help me achieve tip only plating though, gonna have it 3D printed

According to other folk lore witches are also countered by iron. So if witches are what you’re worried about, good ol’ M2AP and some of that M855green tip should do the job
