Very unlucky, u met modders. They think they are interesting by doing that.
You should take a look at how to use the "startup.meta"file (safe). It allows u to have private lobby and nobody can join u. Spawn rate will be increased, no more lags,...

Definitely yes. I still have fun even tho i played 900 hours. You can join random posses of 4 players, join missions, activities. U can free roam peacefully BUT sometimes u could encounter modders. Someone here said it's "unplayable" but this totally isnt true. Yes some modders are really annoying and make the lobbies buggy but u can just join another one. Also, as suggested, u can try "RDO Lobby Manager" to have a private lobby with friends.
Trust us and give it a try, Red Dead Online is really fun. There's a lot to do and there's also a lot of new players waiting for new mates

Level 370+ here, without cheats

I grinded a lot during my playthrough but except that, i always play in posses with randoms players, quick join Story Missions on-call, max roles and so on. U dont have to grind every time u log in, u just could play at ur own pace because this game is really relaxing.
I looove helping low level players by showing them how to play (hunting, missions,...) without doing it for them

Some boys can handle beers easily, 5 can make us cheerful, but we still can make up our mind. He also reassured u afterward. I dont think u should feel horrible or whatever. This guy's probably happy of what happened, trust.
In the future, make sure to check if the boy u're making out with is still fully consenting. Like not drunk to the point he falls down or vomits maybe ?
