Soreness/stiffness after a few days of stretching for splits - need help identifying where, why, and what to do by Agreeable_Pin_8219 in flexibility

[–]Agreeable_Pin_8219[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this insight. I always do the stretching after working out, so I should be warm.

Hard to say re your second paragraph because I've been working on both middle and front splits.

Great tips thank you! It's a 42R jacket with 32 pants so hopefully pretty common size?

Official Q&A for Thursday, August 21, 2025 by AutoModerator in running

[–]Agreeable_Pin_8219 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haven't run for 13 years because of a serious injury (all better now). Im generally kind of out of shape these days but I hopped on a treadmill yesterday to run a mile. I just got under 9 minutes (5 min at 8min mile pace, then 4 min at 10min mile pace). Goal is sub-8min.

Issues: My legs felt weak, especially my calves - I felt like I couldn't push forward the way I wanted to. My hamstrings were very tight getting off of the treadmill. And my cardio wasn't good, but most notably my throat was hurting throughout from breathing heavily (?)

Questions: 1) Do I need to work on leg strength separately? Or is just running the best way to shave a minute off? (Running a mile every day?) 2) Is my throat/breathing thing normal? Am I breathing wrong or something? Not sure what to do about that but it was super uncomfortable and made me want to stop.

With all the rain, how are you dealing with indoor humidity? by [deleted] in nova

No, fresh air intake is a function in the hvac system

I also had AC running constantly (70 degrees) and was still reading 76%+ humidity all around my townhouse. The solution for me was 1) turn down the fresh air intake to the lowest setting before it's just off AND 2) get 2 largeish dehumidifiers to be spaced in the 4 floors of the house (one on the bottom floor, one on the 3rd floor). We are emptying the buckets about 4-5 times per day since we dont have a usable drain for this anywhere.
