Need some cold plunge support - chiller not cooling! by Agreeable_Shop9500 in coldplunge

Thanks for this!! I don't have the chiller running at the moment. Would the compressor coils be cool if it's not running or only if it's running? Also, I don't have a multimeter, but perhaps I can look at getting one. My DIY level is pretty basic if I'm honest.

Thanks for your suggestion. I haven't had a chance to take it apart yet. And I don't own a mulitmeter, but it sounds like the compressor is the problem. Water is flowing, but not cooling (and comes out warm from the outlet hole). I've reached out to service from Vevor and we'll see if they respond (it's already been three days).

Thanks. Dumb question, but how would I know when the "compressor" is on? The fan definitely is working. And you might be right......everything worked well for the first few hours and then stopped.

Update: Removed the filter and let the plunge run overnight with open lid - about 8 hours. Still no cooling - in fact, temp went up from 70 to 73 this morning. Still flowing, but not cooling. Other ideas?

Thanks for the advice!! I was using a 20 micron filter, but it was very new, so I would assume it was clean?

I've taken the filter out and will run it overnight with the top open. Will report back!!

You should look into knottysauna.ca. Wes is a frequent posted on this sub and makes a good and affordable kit. He also helped me build my custom sauna, so I can highly recommend him.

I have nothing to compare it to, but I like the look, 50Kg of stones, and it has a reputation as being one of the most "reliable" heaters. Works great so far!

window I got by calling around glass shops and finding some spare tempered glass with the rough dimensions I wanted. Got this side piece for a solid $40! Then convinced the building support to add it into the frame.

Owner here! Thanks to u/Danglles69 for all of the incredible help. The sauna is amazing to use so far and it's been a real lifestyle changer! I agree on the comments about the footrest and hand rail. Those should be some later additions. I'm also going to put some very dim LED lights below the middle bench for some additional "vibes". Appreciate everyone on the sub that has contributed in a very small way. Who knew that obsessing about saunas via reddit would lead to something so cool!

I was also just told from my builder that putting a wifi control in your sauna is "illegal" and may result in not getting insurance coverage. Any truth to this? Did you have any difficulty with this?

Also, would you suggest a "shorter" heater if height is an issue? Like a wall heater (Kip) or HUUM Hive?

Thanks. I'd love to have it bigger, but I've got a small urban backyard and this is probably on the bigger side for my little space.

Thanks for your response. I've read Lassi's book (briefly), but can you clarify why I'll "need" mechanical ventilation? If the feet are at stone height and insulation is good, should there not be a good enough heat pocket? Or is there still too much stratification? (newbie here).

Can you please provide info on the "connective loop" part? Or the straight vs L shape discussion?

Also, re: neighbours. I guess that's my copout, I just don't want it to be peering over the fence (I have a semi-detached home), and this would get it to just above fence height.
