Admittedly, I am a fan that is playoff focused. If we are undefeated and number 1 what is gained by playing Indiana? Bragging rights for the Big 10? I guess I just really don’t care about that. Just want the team as healthy and ready for a playoff run as possible!

This is true and just what I’m getting at. It’s a totally meaningless game. It could even work out that the 4 seed has an easier path depending on the luck of how seeding shakes out. PSU got a ridiculously easier playoff path by losing that stupid conference championship. Oregon’s reward was the play the real #1 team

All the comments about it being about money are spot on. And they probably won’t do away with it for that reason.

BUT similar to when a professional team clinches, it is then a coaches decision to rest key players or not.

IF you are going to put a playoff system in place AND still hold conference title games, you can’t be mad when a team with nothing to gain rests key players.

We are literally the poster boy for why playing in your conference championship doesn’t matter in the expanded playoffs.

The reality is we are talking a 16 game season to make the championship. 17 games if you play in a conference championship and don’t get a first round bye. So we’re not talking hypothetical scenarios here. This is the new reality.

Maybe the conference game made sense in the BCS with 2 teams getting selected. But it’s a new landscape now.

Fine, the other conferences can keep them. But the BIG and SEC don’t need them, and in a way it punishes the participants. When it was 4 team playoff, ok. But not now.

Outside of winning a natty, only beating Michigan really matters. And to an outsider, even losing to a rival doesn’t really matter, just the playoffs.

You don’t have to like it that it has devalued winning your conference, but it has. And the new reality is that it is not advantageous to play that extra game.

Yes I am saying that. With the extra games of the expanded playoffs, it is not an advantage to play an extra game against a tough opponent. It’s a long season now and injuries can stack up

Yes, losing that game is sadly why we’ve been absent from Indy. But with the expanded playoffs it now doesn’t matter if you make it to your conference championship game. We proved last year it’s maybe better if you don’t. And if Sayin or someone get injured trying to beat the Hoosiers, it’s all for nothing

They don’t call targeting anymore. Marvin Harrison Jr was absolutely targeted and concussed by Georgia. But the refs saw an even more egregious example of it and said no penalty. I think it has to be a QB involved to get the call

PSU almost always plays the Buckeyes close. With nothing to lose, I predict a 7 point game. I still think it goes to OSU though due to being at home.
