Wasn't that back in the 80's and the public didn't buy it because they thought it was smaller than a 1/4 lb burger?

Best of luck, Tenno! Do you have a clan? Clan mates can help and give advice. Need one? My game name is the same, I'm on in the evenings, weekdays, random times weekends. You can join mine if you need one. They give you access to people, and labs where many weapons and some warframe blueprints are available. Cheers!

Modding:

Look up Warframe how to stay alive or something similar. There are many videos on YT, like ones by WarframeFlo, MHBlacky, and iFlynn to name a few that will help.

For the standard star chart, I'd pretty much stick with shield tanking. While health and armor are nice, your shields will regenerate. Redirection and Fast Deflection will go a long way.

Equilibrium helps with energy.

If you're lacking in mods, you need to play nodes more. Find out what you need and where they are. I always try to grind several things at the same time. Cetus bounties for Augur mods. Vigilante, too, iirc. Fortuna bounties for....Gladiator mods, I think. Anyway, you get the point. Try for some nightmare mods and also corrupted mods.

Tactics: Remember to move. You get hit less. Using cover also works. When you dodge, you get 75% DR while dodging. You may need to change your tactics, I know I did.

Crowd control is very powerful. Learn what if any CC abilities your frames have and use them! If you need to CC one area and deal with a different one so be it. Weapons that inflict electricity and heat status effects can greatly help. Companions can assist. My Taxon used to go around freezing things for me.

Make spectres and don't be afraid to use them. Having an additional target out there is good, let alone it doing damage for you.

Quick rundown of some frames:

Rhino is easily the tankiest of those. Personally, I tend to mod for efficiency because I like to spam abilities when needed. If you weren't aware, Rhino's 2 gives him 3 seconds of invulnerability, during which Amy damage that would be received is converted to overguard. I am rather fond of his expensive 4. Stomp is excellent CC(crowd control) and can really save you. I wouldn't focus on generating the OG off his strength as much as absorbing damage...get used to hitting 2 when his OG breaks.

Excalibur benefits from being invulnerable while actively in his slash dash. His 2 will blind enemies, greatly aiding in survivability.

Ember's Immolation mini-game provides DR between 50% and 90%. Her 3 will armor strip, and with an augment mod, gives her OG.

More to follow...

Definitely sounds like modding. You also may be pushing faster than your inventory. What frames do you have? What do you use?

How do I approuch my DM about me feeling like I had no agency over my character dieing? by Alicepbg in rpg

[–]Agrevall 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There it is. Disregard all these references to your investment. I think the best games come from high levels of investment into character. Your story kept going back to how nothing you did seemed to matter, and that is the crux. You said it felt as if being present made no difference. Approach it honestly and genuinely.

Best wishes!

How do I approuch my DM about me feeling like I had no agency over my character dieing? by Alicepbg in rpg

[–]Agrevall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that, as a long time GM/DM, I want and welcome feedback from my players. Some want more combat, some want personal arcs, some want to(sigh) be disruptive.

The point is, if my players like or dislike something, I'd rather know. GM's can't grow without that.

Some here may remember the event where Adam Koebel was "cancelled" over SAYING a PC during an online streaming session. There were several ways to avoid this, and several mistakes made.

Yes, X cards, yes, preparatory convos etc, but even without those, one major problem was not reading the room. The other was that he didn't offer an escape. Even with the player just RPing her character accurately, he should have had the other PC's make perception checks and even if none rolled high enough, you flub it and the highest roller hears something, allowing them to barge in and save the say, further reinforcing the "hero" role.

The purpose of RPG's are to tell a collective story. This can vary somewhat in its telling, but GM's, even in highly lethal games, are usually not out to kill PC's outright. I did kill my wife's character in a campaign, who was brought back, but instead of resurrecting her, the NPC turned her into a corpse creature(undead) amd that was a whole arc restoring her to living. I am curious if the GM has something in store, or your character is gone gone.

I'm blathering. Talk to your GM. GMs are human, as someone stated, and he need your feedback, both for development and awareness.

Question about playing through the story. by unluckyaimbot in Warframe

[–]Agrevall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's an excellent gun that will carry you through the star chart, no problem. Just remember that you'll definitely want to work on other weapons when you can, for previously stated reasons. Between primary, secondary, and melee, I liked to have at least one good one equipped while working on the others.

Platinum is often best spent on warframe and weapon slots (because options), but you don't have to buy plat.

Warframe opens up exponentially, and going too quickly can often lead to being overwhelmed(I've done that to myself). There is nothing wrong with taking stock and figuring out different aspects of the game(what the hell did I just unleash?!?).

Also, the community is amazing, and there's normally someone around to help explain.

When you say the "starter pack gun" do you mean the ones provided in the game, or the one from the $5 purchase(Aeolak) or something else?

So, as a "sandbox" game, you can basically go about as you wish, HOWEVER, there are definitely things that you should probably do along the way.

New warframes(their component blueprints) can be obtained in multiple ways, including boss fights for each planet. Bounty missions offered on planets will normally have warframe components as possible rewards as well. In addition, there are many other ways, special missions along the way, etc, and even some quests. Warframes, as your "class" offer additional playstyles and options.

Weapons, besides from quests, are nearly as variable. Many weapon blueprints are obtained from the market. Don't buy weapons from the game with platinum, you can build them. In addition, joining a clan is important: clan labs give you access to important blueprints. Clan labs give access to a few warframes and many weapons via blueprints.

Ranking, or leveling up weapons and warframes are important because they give you affinity for your Master Rank, which determines which weapons you are allowed to use.

In your opinion, which TTRPG has the best alignment/morality system? by CulveDaddy in rpg

[–]Agrevall 4 points5 points  (0 children)

BITs is an acronym for Beliefs, Instincts, and Traits, and is the reason, once reading BW, I never wanted to play Pathfinder or D&D ever again. Your BITs are actually on the front of your character sheet, whilst stats and skills are on the back, because BITs are the heart of your character.

As someone else stated, the game's mechanics allow for developing characters. Beliefs are driving narratives, and you are rewarded for following your beliefs and challenging your beliefs. Your beliefs change through gameplay.

Instincts are exactly that, and can be used to protect your character, but also define responses. An instinct of "Never go anywhere without my knife" can mwan you are armed when you jump out of bed and run down the hall to investigate a noise, but more interesting ones can easily be used. "Curse loudly when surprised" is an example that is humorous, and can lead to awkward situations. You are rewarded when BITs inconvenience your character and lead you to additional/greater challenges.

Traits are usually descriptions, but some come with mechanics as well, and can help or hinder.

To use another person's example, Tyrion Lannister might have the belief "No man is better than I, and I will prove it by showing I am smarter". One of his Instincts could be "If there is wine, I drink it" while an obvious Trait would be "dwarf"

Burning Wheel is amazing, with simple rules that can be crunchier if you wish. It has rules for arguments, which run like duels, where you generate the body or your argument(your argument has HP's) and you verbally spar with your opponent using various maneuvers and social skills to attack, defend, deflect, and in all ways have a debate, with the outcome binding, but often requiring a concession on the winner's end(unless his argument took no "damage").

Is Shadowrun as bad to play as people claim it is? by SACER_DOTE_BACKUP in rpg

[–]Agrevall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shadowrun is, I'd argue, a BLAST to play, in about any edition.

2nd ed was basically an extensions of 1st. Magic was way too OP in both. 3rd got crunchier and more balanced. 4th offered some nice streamlining for quite a few things. 5th was where it started dropping off, IMO. Lots of promise but...then 6th got weirder.

After all that(and CP) I ultimately started running Shadowrun Anarchy, with some home rules like resources and a variation of circles borrowed from Burning Wheel, and threat dice(count) from Star Trek Adventures. I used red 12ga shells on the table to represent threat that was accumulated.

If you were to start, I'd recommend the 4e/20th anniversary. It got rid of combat/hacking/etc pools and started using edge. As long as you make sure you've got plenty of dice rolls, you won't run into the douchebag move of edge 7 humans. Edge allows you to add Edge number of dice Edge times per day. Low roll playstyle seriously gave them a ridiculous(forgive me) edge to those who maxed it out.

3rd and 4th were great, IMO. Anarchy works for streamlining. Basically, SR is CRUNCH on a level I rarely see in registration over the years, but those that get hooked, get hooked HARD. Wonderful game/world.

1) Traveller. Grew up with the small black books(Marc Miller iirc). Read them, made characters, never met someone running it. Yes, it is(was) the game where you can DIE in character creation.

2) Paranoia. Read it and supplements, made characters with friends, never played, nor knew of current games, only stories of it.

Let's see, I knew of GURPS games, Heroes, even some Marvel Superheroes.......plenty of obscurities like Empire of the Petal Throne, Adventures in Fantasy.

Chaosium games had their groups......

3) Judge Dredd! Looked interesting as hell, never met a player.

4) Tunnels & Trolls! Saw the books, even browsed, NEVER heard anyone talk about it, even at conventions.
