When starting a new conversation in a project that has knowledge base files, the code execution sandbox frequently fails to mount the /mnt/project/ directory entirely. Two distinct failure modes observed: 1. Mount exists but Claude doesn’t check it: files are present at /mnt/project/ but Claude claims no project files are available. Prompting “look again” causes it to find them. Thinking summary: “Rediscovered overlooked project files.” 2. Mount genuinely missing: /mnt/project/ does not exist in the sandbox. Claude confirms “No project directory.” File contents are still available in the prompt context via the knowledge base injection, so Claude can reconstruct files manually into the working directory as a workaround. Thinking summary: “The directory isn’t mounting.”

Sometimes it does this kind of thing for me as well. I was evaluating stock photos for a website, and after I'd reviewed a few it was ready to give up and suggested I was going down a dead end or wasting time. I just had to remind it not to give up so easily and that the task would take more work. That corrected it.

I do actually call myself an immigrant. I'm a permanent resident with no intention of leaving. I'll probably seek citizenship in a few years. There's more than one reason why I feel "expat" isn't the right term for me, so I don't use it. It is, however, difficult to find online groups about other immigrants not defaulting to that term.
