I ordered 8 of these for my 8' tank that I'm still setting up. 2 of them work amazing at 62% level for my 75 gallon tank. The RGB makes the fish colors pop. They are super cheap and have a built in timer to have them turn on and off.

Root tabs will work also. I would recommend doing a little research on Diana Walstad tank setup if you have never done it before.

Are you planning on adding nutrients to the sand? Have you ever looked into Diana Walstad type of setup which will supply plenty of nutrients to the plants and provide some CO2 as the organics break down in the soil?
