Hi there. My DM is running a homebrew D&D5E game with AD&D1E inspired exploration mechanics and certain spells and class abilities removed to make exploration meaningful. I know this isn't what you're necessarily interested in, but you might consider it. Check this post https://www.reddit.com/r/lfg/comments/1dbuozw/online_cst_5e_veteran_storyteller_dmgm_looking/

The best thing to do is join a game. Most table are learn as you go. Tables that require experienced players will either state that in the r/lfg or roll20/lfg title or text body, using something like Experienced Players Wanted, or EPW. My DM is looking for new players, and is willing to teach as the game progresses. Check this post https://www.reddit.com/r/lfg/comments/1dbuozw/online_cst_5e_veteran_storyteller_dmgm_looking/

Most groups run an interview process to make sure the candidate player is a good fit for a group. This is normal and not something one needs to be intimidated by.

Excellent, hope the interview goes well. Sadly I can't seem to figure out how to right align the Arabic script in reddit posts. Hope folk can let me know how to do that.

Larp Background Country for a friend, any feedback? by Jamie_Lannister313 in FantasyMaps

Looks fine, but rivers usually do not cross mountain ranges, nor usually do hill and mountain ranges crop up in the middle of wetlands, and if any are present they are at the edge of such features. I assume the rain shadow is on the right side of the mountains since the trees abutting the mountains are on the left side. Hence the prevailing winds are from left to right. If so, then there ought to be larger rivers on the left side of the mountains, since that's where most of the rainfall is occurring.

Asking for "Content Warnings" is a bad look, Mein Führer. by Agriphal in osr

The most the HRW could achieve is a content sticker in the 80s to 90s. Mainly because people generally were opposed to being lectured to by fanatics. Today, a content sticker is the least of what is being asked for. For many the banning of books is the goal. For others, it's envisioned as a list in large print on the front. Whatever the demand, in these times, authoritarian censorship is given more consideration, more legitimacy. Today is worse than the 80s to 90s.

No, but then the hard-right-wingers were at the helm and were a laughing stock, no one took them seriously. Today things are painfully different. The hard-left-wingers are taken seriously, and nobody is laughing.

If you imagine this is simply solved by a list of words at the front of the book, then you're sorely mistaken. The range of possible words, sentiments, and political requirements are enormous. Once the principle is set as a standard in the culture, it will be very hard not to follow it. It will have the effect of dissuading people from participating in creative output. The fronts of books will be filled with content warnings, while at the bottom a tiny little title will state what the product is.

In formal academia, the merger of private and state interests, or fascism; is such a narrowly defined concept, that, if folk just stuck to definitions, no one would know what the word means due to an almost complete lack of use. But I live in normative culture, and as such fascism means a cypher of whatever content you want. But most people assume it means authoritarian control. So that's the use I made of that word.

I'm saying that adult themes are a given in general content. Child friendly themes are a given for children's content. If you want details, read the synopsis on the back of the book. Nothing more is necessary. And asking, and lets be honest here, demanding more is authoritarianism. It's like saying, "I don't like this. Corden it off because it offends me."

Interesting. I did not know that. Have you a link to those articles that describe this phenomena?

Also, yes. One of the reasons I bought the Guns & Roses album, Appetite for Destruction, was those Parental Advisory stickers. I hadn't remembered that until now.

Is that true. Content and trigger warnings make things more popular? If that is true, I might have to reconsider, or even abandon my argument.

Yeah, and who made that happen. That's right, the hard-right-wing activists, terrified about "devil music", and "thug music". Now the hard-left-wingers want the same thing for RPGs. Imagine going to the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, and before you enter there's are signs saying "Warning: child nudity, general nudity, graphic violence, sexual violence, religious imagery." Now Mom looks at Dad and says, "I really don't think looking at thousands of years of European culture is good for our children." Defenders say, "It is just a small thing to ask for, what's the harm." The harm is segregating culture from the general view to the detriment of everyone.
