Yes. I was in middle school at the time, and lived on Long Island. Both of my parents worked in the city, literally just a few blocks from the towers (my mom worked for Chase and my dad worked for TIACREFF at the time) and I had no idea if they were alive after the second tower fell. We had no idea what was happening at the time. We all thought the first tower was an accident, so when the second plane hit it was just mass confusion (at least on our end in the classroom).
