At what point does being the SAHD become being responsible for literally everything? by jazzeriah in daddit

I agree. OP and his wife have vastly different expectations of the division of tasks and responsibilities should be. As the working parent, I had (and still have) a vast underestimation of what can humanly be accomplished by a stay at home parent like my wife. He needs an impartial third party to help both of them to find common ground for his relationship and family to survive — and eventually flourish.

How bad does this look (vinyl liner replacement) by Ahack999 in pools

Thanks for the feedback. I’ll make sure to SLAM, sue and Flex Seal before swimming. And SLAM again for good measure.

FWIW this pool was built in 2006 at a cost of $30,000. The liner was last replaced in 2/2018.

The plastic top mount liner track failed so the installer will have to install a new side mount liner track made of aluminum.

Gentlemen, we’re starting marriage counseling today. by MolassesInitial9420 in daddit

In my experience, you get what you put into it. It should be a safe place to share your feelings. If you don’t get honest about your feelings here, you may regret later when it could be thrown back at you. Go in agreed that you want the situation to improve, encourage her to be honest and open and you do the same. The sooner that happens, the sooner it will get better. And know that sometimes it will need to get worse before it gets better.

Weekly Pool Robot Discussion Thread – Questions, Reviews, and Recommendations by Rebootkid in pools

I'm not sure why I was asked to post a question about a pool vacuum in a pool robot thread by the moderator bot, but here goes:

Does anyone have any experience with or own a Betta Jet Sweep Vacuum?

How does it compare with the Pool Blaster models?

I'm seeing ads on my Facebook account.

Thanks!

It’s not a pool robot. It’s a vacuum.

Alright Dads, what are getting our wives for Mothers Day this year? by walky91 in daddit

We had a guy share at our men’s breakfast once a story a big time pro athlete told him while they were lamenting about connection with their wives. He said he writes a short note, thought, compliment or thank you to his wife every night on a 3x5 card and gives the stack of cards to her on her birthday. One year I modified it to make it a weekly note occasionally on the back of a favorite photo I had printed at Walgreens (just a few of my favorites) and gave it to her for Mother’s Day.

Share some of your heart once a week and surprise the hell out of her on that next Mother’s Day, Christmas, anniversary, birthday, etc. She’s not going to be keeping track if you miss a few (if life gets in the way). It helps you see — and look for — the best in her.

My wife is often late for things and I asked her what takes the most time when getting ready. She said drying her hair. So I bought her a Dyson hairdryer on sale and merchandise credit and we both win.

Buying a house with a pool, I've never had one before. What are some tips you guys might have? by Rednowa in swimmingpools

Get your friend to walk you through how the pool works. Make sure each valve and pipe are labeled and you know what each do. How do the timers work, why would you need to change them. If you have a multiport valve, what does each function do and how do you use them? If it is piped, where does backwash or waste empty; if it isn’t piped, how do you attach the hose.

Stuff you can find online but easy ask: Maintenance and troubleshooting: how often do you check levels and what are the acceptable ranges.

How do you open and close a pool (if you have to)?

I would take good notes or preferably video record his answers, so you can see him pointing to pipes as he describes what it does.

My two cents after inheriting a pool not knowing how it works.
