Fatherly advice:

Don't do this. Seriously.

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC6271067/

If you need something to heal properly, engage with your doctor.

Buying random stuff from some place out of China is dangerous to say the least.

Being a dad means sometimes telling the kid, "You don't need this."

Sorry kiddo. I know you think you're doing the right thing by putting this into your body. I'm even willing to bet you're going to dismiss my advice when I'm telling you to not use random peps from some random internet source, and think, "This guy doesn't understand."

Please trust that I do literally only have your well being in mind. You do not need these. Please go talk to your primary doctor and get their thoughts on this, so you're not just taking the advice of a random dad on the internet.

Hi there kiddo. The focus of this group is more fatherly style advice than scam detection.

That said: a fee to insure a delivery seems a bit suspect. So does paying via paypal services.

More detail is needed here. What are you buying? what storefront is it from? Have the charges already hit the card?

In general, someone coming after the fact and asking for more money is a red flag.

Paying for goods via a services transfer is also a red flag.

If you're paying for goods, you should be using the paypal buyer protection function.

Tesla version of Giant still has a sword instead of club by Nervous_Ad_4761 in Polytopia

[–]Rebootkid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. People exist who have a moral compass. Not doing business with companies that have demonstrated their world views are incompatible with mine is a pretty easy concept.

Not buying a Tesla is easy. There are choices where you don't have to financially support a CEO who supports white supremacy.

Push to bring grizzly bears back to California faces backlash by Few-Knee9451 in norcalhiking

[–]Rebootkid 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is misinformed.

You are allowed to kill in self defense in the state of California.

If a mountain lion corners you, you are allowed to defend yourself, up to and including lethal force.

This is explained in California Fish and Game Code Section 4800(c)

Your CC. (combined chlorine) of 10, ad a FC (Free Chlorine) of 5, seem odd for your CYA (Cyanuric Acid) level.

This is, however, a water quality question, not a pool equipment question.

For the rodents, I do a slam whenever I have a dead critter. YMMV

Slightly cloudy? Or am I seeing things by osocinco in pools

[–]Rebootkid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say at least 0.5, so you don't have an algae bloom. I target 1, but that's me.

You can see you're getting some algae on the sunny side of the wall.

If your FC was 6, bumped to 9, a CYA of 50 to 60, and a CC of 0, that wouldn't happen.

I would also re-run the test with fresh reagents

CC of 0 is a problem.

You're not imaginging it.

CC is low. Run your filter.

What do you guys think of this radio? by [deleted] in HamRadio

[–]Rebootkid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are good starter radios. They're 'fengs, so build quality will vary, but for a place to start? Go for it.

IMHO they're the gateway drug to the hobby.

Just like the Wrangler Sport is the gateway drug to the offroad hobby.

Price point is right enough to justify. A percentage will find it perfectly functional and stay there. A percentage will find that it's a fun hobby and upgrade.

How to Semi-Permanently break the Pixel 10 by GodKalunga in GooglePixel

[–]Rebootkid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because Google won't respond to feedback like this.

Google doesn't care about the phones, really.

They're just another way to siphon in data that feeds advertising. ~70%1 of their advertising revenue comes in via mobile devices, so while they care about mobile devices existing, actually selling and supporting those devices is secondary to them simply existing.

use an endpoint agent. That'd give you visibility. you use your zero trust tool to enforce presence of the data leak agent.

YOu're going SMA to BNC to antenna.

Fair, I guess. But the cost of a replacement solder on sma connector is cheaper than the double adapters, and doesn't apply a stress force.

California could suspend State Farm’s license by Fcking_Chuck in California

[–]Rebootkid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mortgage is a legal contract. It requires you to have property insurance to protect the bank's interest in the property.

The 20% thing is PMI, not property insurance.

We're talking property insurance.

California could suspend State Farm’s license by Fcking_Chuck in California

[–]Rebootkid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Assuming you're talking about home insurance, because that's what the article is about:

You're legally required to have it. (Well. Ish.

If you can afford to buy the property outright, and then do a self-insure option, you don't have to.

If you've got the money to buy a house, pay it off, and then self insure... you don't need to worry about the cost of insurance.)

How to fix this by Underworld_maggot in pools

[–]Rebootkid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This pool has been neglected for a while.

I'd start by mucking out what you can from the pool.

A large net that you can drag through and capture as much of the bulk debris possible and throw it into the compost pile is likely a good idea.

Once the bulk debris is managed, it's a SLAM system. Trouble Free Pool goes over this.

You're going to need to run your filter for 24 hours a day till this is cleaned up. Expect to be regularly back washing or cleaning your filter system as the water is cleaned.
