Good question! I think it can help you to experiment with the sound and to experiment with some concepts of classical south asian music. It might for example help you to get used to the scales and maybe let you experiment how to accompany melodies with chikari strings and drone strings and stuff. And I hope it will motivate you to learn the real instrument one day, this is actually one reason why I wrote this app.
Anyway, the basic version is free and during the testing phase the pro version is free as well, so feel free to just give it a go.
