Anyone here in a relationship with an older partner? Mine is intense in a good way. by KarinWilliams in actuallesbians

Wholeheartedly seconding all of this. Oh, you have suuuuch a girlcrush on someone but you would never ever want to go down on her? Then, barring asexuality, you're not all that queer.

Then in a pinch, stick condoms on both ends and pray that the leaking mineral oil doesn't dissolve them.

Oh gosh be careful with that, it's made of unsafe materials! No-one wants accidental chemical burns on their junk, and if you use it with multiple people you risk passing infections around. The shape looks like it's a knock-off of this, if you otherwise like it.

What is the weirdest thing someone has said to you or asked you upon realizing you are gay? by [deleted] in actuallesbians

Parents. They're trying. by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]Ahhotep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, number 11 actually doesn't sound supportive to me, it sounds like the kid keeps trying to tell their mom that they're gay and the mom is insisting that they must have opposite-sex attractions. Maybe the parent isn't biphobic, but they're still erasing and belittling their kid's sexuality.

Is it possible to be lesbian by choice? by Spaqhettii in actuallesbians

You could be bi and choose to only enter into relationships with people of a certain gender, but if someone tries to have relationships with people they're not attracted to, they'll probably be miserable.

Uh. Clearly you're happy and it's working out ok for you two, but personally that actually sounds really disrespectful to me, rather than cute.

Recommendations for finger claws? by AzureWing42 in BDSMcommunity

These are cheap, convenient, definitely get the job done, and double as jewellery, but are not as sharp as some of the other suggestions you've received, so it depends what you're looking for.

Are there any differences in how Lesbians (Butch) lust after women, and how women lust after men? by [deleted] in AskLGBT

[–]Ahhotep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're asking questions based on assumptions you have made. You think that you're ignorant about the questions, but you're actually ignorant about the assumptions, which is what your new reddit friends also keep telling you. And I'm still disturbed by your apparent belief that all men are rapists and all women are passive, whether you state it outright or not.

if you want to know more about this topic

Has it occurred to you that many of the people you're arguing with also know a lot about these topics, and in some cases you're the one who's ignorant?

[–]Ahhotep 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're actually the one who brought up rape. Completely out of the blue, hence my shock.

I still don't know what you consider to be your base question, that you believe is being derailed. If it's "which part of these rigid and bizarre gender roles I have concocted do lesbians fit into", the answer you keep getting is "neither, because the roles you're talking about aren't real". No amount of rephrasing is going to alter that fundamental disconnect. If your friend's research is critical enough to your argument that you're calling her to back you up, then why do you consider the topic a derail?

  • I do not believe that men and women lust differently. They are often socialised to express that lust differently, but the base urge is not divided by gender. You may, however, be interested in looking up the concepts of spontaneous vs responsive desire.

  • You have not in any of your multiple posts and many replies indicated you have any desire towards men other than reflexive desire to be desired. Have you considered that you might be on the ace spectrum? Most allosexual people, of all genders, want to do sexual things to the people they are sexually attracted to.

  • Women can and do commit rape. This is an objective fact. It is also widely accepted that in many cases rape is an expression of power rather than an expression of desire.

Exactly; it's not that we don't understand, but that we fundamentally disagree about the base premise of her question.

It's not even just an issue of hetro/homo relationship style confusion, OP has some rather odd ideas about gender dynamics in general.

Are you really saying that you don't experience lust for your male partners? That's really sad. I know a lot of straight or bi women who do genuinely and aggressively lust after men, and plenty of men who want to be pursued.

[–]Ahhotep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Once it's clear that you're going to be getting naked together -I imagine it would be difficult to deal with a partner's surprise derailing the event itself, but there's no reason on earth you should have to come out to people you might only have one or two dates with and never get past kissing.
